Hey CBS, it’s Tom Ellis here. I’m thrilled to share that my latest series, titled ‘CIA‘, is set to premiere on your network this autumn. Can’t wait for you to check it out!
Tom Ellis Is Back on the Small Screen as the Star of CIA
CIA is a one-hour crime drama featuring an unconventional duo – a charismatic, rule-breaking CIA operative (Tom Ellis) and a traditional, experienced, and law-abiding FBI agent. Assigned to work from the CIA’s New York office, they must learn to collaborate as they investigate criminals who pose threats within U.S. borders. They discover that their contrasting styles might just be what makes them strong together.
Ellis has hinted at a unique tone for the upcoming series, telling Us Weekly that “We plan to delve into what the FBI team have established in that particular realm.” He stressed that while there may be occasional overlap with the FBI, this show will primarily focus on exploring the CIA’s activities within domestic territory. It will also highlight why it’s crucial for these distinct agencies to exchange information and how such cooperation contributes to the common good.
Other FBI Shows Were Axed to Make Room for CIA
It’s positive news for the fans as a spin-off show is set to broaden the FBI universe, but with the twist that it revolves around the CIA. Unfortunately, this development means the cancellation of two other shows within the franchise – FBI: Most Wanted and an unnamed one. However, it’s important to note that the original FBI series will carry on with a Season 8. The Season 7 finale is scheduled for May 20, while the finales for Most Wanted and International are planned for May 21.
CIA will debut on CBS this Fall.
