Tom Hardy expressed his desire for Venom to interact with Spider-Man in an interview with ComicBook, but he’s not dependent on it for his return. He stated that he wants his character, Eddie Brock, to meet the webslinger, but it’s not a necessity for him to reprise the role. Although the specific project isn’t clear, Hardy made it known that he cherishes Venom and hasn’t fully moved on from the character. Currently, Hardy is promoting the crime drama MobLand, where he plays a “fixer” stuck between two rival families. The series airs new episodes every Sunday on Paramount+, and as of now, his next appearance as Eddie Brock has yet to be decided.
Inquired if a collaboration between Spider-Man was the sole condition for him to reprise the role of Venom again, and he promptly replied “Absolutely not! I adore Venom and enjoyed my time portraying him immensely, so no, definitely not.” The actor is only a few months past his third appearance as Venom within the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU), where his trilogy received the highest acclaim in the series.
In a nearly direct connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Venom came quite close. Tom Hardy portrayed Eddie Brock in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, seemingly transported into the main MCU reality alongside villains from other Spider-Man films. Eddie and Venom were sent back to their original universe by Doctor Strange’s spell without interacting with any MCU heroes. However, they inadvertently left a small fragment of the symbiote behind when they were pulled into a portal. Many fans anticipate that this subtle reference might be significant in some way.
The main challenge lies in Sony’s prolonged pause with SSU film productions. Despite the success of the Venom trilogy, films like Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven the Hunter underperformed financially, causing Sony to halt the entire franchise. However, the Spider-Noir TV series remains active, and if any of these characters are to continue, Venom appears the most probable given its box office success.
It’d be great if Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) offered some assistance, given that the franchise is progressively approaching the grand finale of its Multiverse Storyline. We anticipate this to include characters from different dimensions, and Venom portrayed by Tom Hardy seems like an ideal fit for some upcoming collaborative movies. For the time being, enthusiasts can only take comfort in the fact that Hardy has expressed interest in reprising his role; the question lies in when and where this might occur.
You can now stream Hardy’s initial “Venom” film on Disney+. Meanwhile, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” is available for streaming on Starz, and “Venom: The Last Dance” can be found on Netflix. Fresh episodes of MobLand premiere every Sunday evening on Paramount+.
