In Tom Hardy’s latest action flick, Havoc, one of his fellow actors is singing praises for his talents. As stated by Luis Guzmán, Hardy would be an ideal candidate to portray the next James Bond in Amazon’s upcoming production.
In my humble opinion, the gripping and intense film “Havoc” made its debut on Netflix on April 25th. This high-octane thriller follows a weary cop who’s determined to rescue a politician’s son from trouble. While working alongside Tom Hardy during production, Guzmán shared with Screen Rant his conviction that the talented actor can excel at anything he aspires to achieve. As he put it, “Tom Hardy is simply extraordinary – he can do anything he sets his mind to.
He further referred to “Bronson,” Hardy’s 2008 biographical drama, as evidence of his acting versatility. In essence, he suggested that if you watch the movie “Bronson” and consider him for the role of James Bond in his new movies, “Havoc,” you will appreciate his capability to excel in any role.
In the course of Bronson’s life behind bars, portrayed by Tom Hardy as Michael Peterson, who is infamously known as Britain’s most brutal inmate, Bronson was observed. This character was noteworthy for his hostage-taking incidents within prison, thus making Hardy’s role a blend of intense drama and high-octane action. Guzmán commented, “He’s played many remarkable roles, but trust me, after seeing Bronson, you’ll exclaim, ‘Why haven’t I watched this earlier?'” Guzmán was inspired to watch the film by his children who recommended it, saying, “You’ve got to catch this Tom Hardy movie.
Throughout his acting journey, Hardy has garnered recognition for many cherished performances, such as appearing in Christopher Nolan’s films like “Inception” and “Dunkirk”. More recently, he portrayed the lead character in a series, and starred in its subsequent two sequels. As stated by Guzmán, Hardy isn’t just a talented actor; he’s an intense, generous one. “He’s not only a great actor, but he’s also a genuinely good person,” Guzmán added.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly waiting for the official word on who will step into the tuxedo for Amazon’s revamped Bond franchise. While no casting confirmations have been made public yet, several names are circulating with strong odds attached. Among them are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill, and James Norton. Additionally, Colin Farrell, Jenna Ortega, and Johnny Depp are being tossed around as potential frontrunners for the iconic character.
Critics Aren’t So Enamored with Hardy’s New Netflix Action Movie
Guzmán spoke only good words about his Havoc co-star, but the critics haven’t been as generous with their reviews for their new film together. The Netflix original has garnered mixed opinions from critics, with some giving it a positive rating. Those who appreciated the movie commended its ominous tone and thrilling narrative, while others found it overly violent and unrealistically gory, making it difficult to endure throughout.
The response to Havoc has been disappointing, with only 42% of viewers on Rotten Tomatoes giving it a positive rating. One viewer described it as “one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while” and awarded it just one star. Another viewer commented that “actors have to earn a living too, so getting a paycheck isn’t necessarily bad. But this movie is not worth watching.
It’s worth noting that not every review for the movie Havoc was unfavorable. In fact, another highly-regarded review on the site deemed it “one of the best action films to have appeared recently,” and commended Hardy for delivering a performance that showcases his signature talent.
Havoc is now streaming on Netflix.
