Previously from “Vanderpump Rules,” the individual made a surprising entrance on the NBC reality show competition.

In a sneak peek of the June 24 episode, the lead singer of Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras hinted at the reasons behind his appearance on America’s Got Talent, two years after the Scandoval – the highly publicized cheating scandal involving his exes Ariana Madix and Rachel “Raquel” Leviss – made headlines.

In a video shared on Instagram on June 20th, Tom Sandoval stated, “I used to be known as the most disliked person in America, but now I’m using this opportunity to reveal my musical side.

In my role as a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share an intriguing moment from a recent event. After taking the stage, I found myself crooning a rendition of A-ha’s timeless ’80s gem, “Take on Me”. Clad in sleek black trousers and a dazzling, sequined green jacket, I aimed to bring a fresh twist to this classic tune.

At the outset, Sofía Vergara, the discerning judge, cast a doubtful gaze at my vocal prowess. Yet, as I delved into the lyrics with surprising fervor and passion, her skepticism seemed to dissipate, replaced by a look of genuine surprise – an expression mirrored by the audience’s faces too. The performance turned out to be quite the unexpected treat!

Initially, famously strict judge Simon Cowell didn’t seem pleased when he first saw The Traitors alum, but later his face lit up with a broad grin as he appreciated the act.

Regarding the crowd’s response, people in the audience smiled, clapped, and cheered, with a noticeable increase in enthusiasm when Tom reached a challenging high note during the chorus.

He stated, “There’s no justification for my actions.” Expressing his thoughts further, he questioned, “Why wouldn’t these former colleagues reach out to me with a simple text? Instead, they immediately went on social media to post about it?

For season 20, contestants face a lengthy journey before they even get to perform for the panel of judges consisting of Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofía Vergara, and Simon Cowell. In order to broaden the reach as much as possible, NBCUniversal is hosting open call auditions online. Anyone can register and have their audition viewed by the casting team and producers. If they believe a person has potential, they move forward to be evaluated by executive producers. Once approved, the act will proceed to an in-person or virtual audition before the judges, with everything happening from there. Aspiring candidates may also try out through an in-person open call or video submission.

Countdown, fellow enthusiasts! As per the audition instructions, we’ve got a whopping 90 seconds to shine and display our talents during the open calls. But remember, the fine print says that the producers have the power to adjust audition durations if needed. So let’s make every second count!

 

Absolutely, there are quite a few restrictions in place. For one, even though many performances involve open flames, the rules clearly state that no fires or special rigging are allowed during open call auditions. If an act includes animals, competitors must complete an Animal Information Form and bring the animal’s vaccination records. Other items prohibited by the rules include coolers (except for medical reasons), fireworks, weapons, sharp tools, mace/pepper spray, illegal substances, alcohol, and props requiring fire or pyrotechnics.

After advancing past the preliminary rounds on “America’s Got Talent,” contestants will be given travel assistance, either by airfare, bus ticket, train ticket, or gas reimbursement if they are nearby, to attend the judges’ audition round. They won’t have to worry about covering the full cost of their journey. Additionally, they’ll be offered hotel lodging and a daily stipend for meals or other necessary expenses during this phase.

As a dedicated follower, I’ve learned from the guidelines of America’s Got Talent that they don’t offer hair and makeup assistance during the judges’ audition round. Instead, they expect us, the competitors, to be “camera ready.” However, for future rounds, these services are indeed provided. In fact, Tonia Green, an esteemed makeup artist from AGT, shared on Instagram that their hair and makeup team worked with hundreds of contestants during season 19.

Contestants practice their performances during rehearsals, but that’s not the only aspect of the show they prepare. Sofie Dossi, who competed on three seasons of America’s Got Talent, explained in a 2024 YouTube video that there is also a results rehearsal for everyone to know where to go if eliminated or advance, and for the crew to determine lighting and camera angles.

The grand prize for winning America’s Got Talent is a total of $1 million, but instead of receiving the full amount immediately, the winner can either take it as an annuity payment over forty years or choose to receive the present value of that annuity. If they opt for the annuity payments, they will receive approximately $25,000 per year before taxes for the next forty years.
