Tony Bennett’s Daughters Sue Brother for $2.6 Million Trust Heist

Tony Bennett‘s children are not in tune with one another.

The daughters of the deceased singer, Johanna Bennett (age 53) and Antonia Bennett (age 50), recently filed a legal motion against their older brother, D’Andrea “Danny” Bennett (age 70). This action was taken due to expressed apprehensions about his handling of their father’s estate, as stated in documents obtained by People. In their filing, Johanna and Antonia allege that they have each received only $245,000 from their father’s trust, while Danny Bennett’s company RPM has been paid approximately $2.6 million in commissions.

In the document they submitted, it was claimed by them, as reported by People, that since there is no additional information about Tony’s earnings, it remains uncertain if the funds Danny was transferring to himself surpassed what he was entitled to contractually. The financial records and agreements provided by Danny suggest that the commissions paid to his company, RPM Productions, seem unusually high compared to Tony’s reported income.

In June, as reported by the source, the sisters initiated a lawsuit against their half-brother Danny, alleging that certain assets from their father’s estate were not properly accounted for following his death in July 2023, when he was 96 years old. They are disputing these unaccounted assets.

After Danny submitted a motion in November to terminate the case, Johanna and Antonia followed up with their own motion just about two weeks later.

According to the filing obtained by People, it is stated that before Tony’s passing, Danny held multiple roles where his duties conflicted, for a prolonged period. During this time, he allegedly withdrew substantial funds from the Family Trust for himself and his kids. Furthermore, as reported by Danny to several media outlets, prior to Tony’s death, there was a period when Tony experienced a decline in mental capacity, making it impossible for him to continue serving as co-Trustee. This left Danny as the sole Trustee of the Family Trust, without any supervision.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Danny, but has not heard back.

As reported by People, Johanna and Antonia asserted that they are entitled to complete transparency regarding Danny’s actions, both prior to and following the death of Tony. They suggested that Danny was operating independently and without supervision at the time.

The accusation stated that Danny wrote checks from trust funds at his own discretion and gave himself numerous personal gifts totaling approximately $200,700.

Previously, Danny facilitated the sale of Tony’s possessions to Iconoclast in 2022, claiming it was due to their father facing financial difficulties. However, Johanna and Antonia doubt this assertion, as court documents acquired by People indicate that Tony supposedly had millions of dollars at the time the transaction took place.

Despite Danny and his legal team providing fragmented details and certain documents to the opposing side, as mentioned in the lawsuit, the information given instead creates more puzzles than solutions and falls short of offering a comprehensive overview of Tony’s assets and financial dealings. Tony first established the family trust back in 1994, designating Danny and his son Daegal “Dae” Bennett, who is now 68 years old, as co-trustees. However, in 2008, he made some changes to the trust by taking Dae out of the role and adding himself instead.
