As the anticipated launch of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 approaches, publisher Activision and developer Iron Galaxy are showcasing some fresh, upcoming skateboarders in the game’s lineup. The debuting skater we get a sneak peek at thanks to a recently released behind-the-scenes video is Margielyn Didal. You can watch it here.
Margielyn Didal hails from Cebu City, Philippines, and is a skilled skateboarder. The video offers glimpses of Didal both in real-life and in the game. She shares her major inspirations within the skateboarding community, expressing excitement about being represented in the upcoming remake of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4.
Intriguingly, this video offers us a sneak peek at the initial appearances of the Kona and Suburbia stages within the game. Although we don’t delve deeply into these stages, they still reveal that there haven’t been significant alterations since their introduction in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 (for Suburbia) and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 (Kona).
The news was confirmed earlier this month that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 are being re-released together. This game is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. You can expect to find it in stores starting July 11. Given its title, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 will feature remakes of the popular third and fourth installments from the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series.
To clarify, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 won’t replicate the open-world campaign of THPS 4. Instead, it will transform that campaign into a mission-based structure where players must complete tasks within a time constraint. This adjustment aligns with the structure of the campaigns in both THPS 3 and the original games, as demonstrated in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2.
The title boasts an extensive array of skateboarders for selection, ranging from skating icons such as Tony Hawk himself, to up-and-coming talents like Margielyn Didal who’ve made a splash in the contemporary skate scene.
It’s been suggested that Bam Margera could potentially join the team, following a last-minute decision allegedly made by Hawk. As per Roger Bagley from The Live Club podcast, Hawk requested that Margera be added to the game’s lineup with Activision.
In a recent podcast episode, Bagley explained, “The situation was settled. Tony contacted Activision saying ‘we’re including Bam in the project’, to which they responded ‘sorry, we can’t’. But Tony persisted, saying ‘you will do it’, and ultimately managed to convince them to fly Bam back for body-scanning and other necessary procedures, so he could rejoin the game.
