Top Anime Sequels Fans Are Desperately Waiting For!

Despite numerous anime series garnering massive fan enthusiasm for additional episodes, not all are fortunate enough to carry on from where their captivating narratives concluded. Some conclude abruptly, leaving loose ends untied. Others end with cliffhangers that remain unresolved. Some simply lack closure despite a dedicated fanbase’s backing and even the growth of new fans joining the franchise. Regardless of the reason, many anime remain in a state of suspension, with devoted followers yearning for more content even after years of demanding it and the number of fans steadily increasing.

Regardless of the series you’re yearning for, we share your excitement and impatience, eagerly waiting for their sequels to premiere. Although many anime deserve a continuation, here are a few notable mentions – some classic shows that fans can’t wait to see unfold further.

Based on Yuu Kamiya’s ongoing light novel series, a 2014 anime produced by Madhouse portrays the happenings in the first three volumes of the books. The 2017 film “No Game No Life Zero” retells the prequel events from the sixth volume. With the long-awaited thirteenth book yet to be released, fans of the anime adaptation have been clamoring for a second season for quite some time now, but so far to no avail. Given the passionate fanbase that this vibrant, magical series has amassed, it definitely warrants further exploration.

The dark fantasy manga series by Kentaro Miura has been adapted in various ways, such as: the 1997 anime series adaptation by OLM, which follows the storyline of the Golden Age; the 2012-13 film trilogy adaptation by Studio 4°C, also based on the Golden Age; and the 2016-17 anime series produced by Liden Films, Millepensee, and GEMBA, which serves as a continuation of the films’ Golden Age storyline. While not everyone was overly enthusiastic about the 2016-17 adaptation of the anime, the entire Berserk series is a highly acclaimed, cherished classic that warrants attention from both old and new fans to keep up with its manga counterpart.

Ouran High School Host Club

Initially believing it to be an unused study room, Haruhi Fujioka discovers instead the extravagant Host Club of Ouran Academy – a playground for the wealthy and handsome boys who entertain high-class female visitors. This unexpected turn of events leads Haruhi into the elite daily life of the club, forming bonds with the other hosts in the process.

The 2006 anime version wraps up near the end of volume 8 since the manga had only eight volumes at that point in time. However, given that the manga eventually expanded this touching story of romance and camaraderie, it’s fitting for the anime characters to also explore their future lives, relationships, and escapades beyond the initial ending.

Wonder Egg Priority

Struggling with her unique eye colors causing bullying and deep grief over the suicide of her best friend, Ai Ooto leads a hollow existence. However, when she discovers that she can enter a dreamlike garden realm, she encounters enigmatic mannequin beings named Acca and Ura Acca. These entities explain to her about Wonder Eggs, which contain other people’s traumas. Ai, along with Neiru Aonuma, Rika Kawai, and Momoe Sawaki, embark on a mission to assist others in dealing with their traumatic experiences. As they help others, the four girls form strong bonds, each working through their personal issues while offering solace to others.

The animated series “Wonder Egg Priority,” produced by CloverWorks, held a lot of promise in the eyes of fans. With its unique blend of heavy subject matter and vibrant, eye-catching animation, it ignited optimism for an exceptional show. Although the main part of the 12-episode series was widely praised, the conclusion left much to be desired. It felt more like a recap episode (which was essentially one) and fell short in delivering a satisfying resolution. Despite these flaws, the deep themes and lingering questions call for a follow-up series to provide a fitting end to this captivating and haunting narrative.
