Top Gear and The Grand Tour’s James May confirms show has been cancelled

As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of automobiles and travelogues, I have to admit that the news about James May’s latest show cancellation leaves me a bit saddened yet intrigued. Having followed his journey from Top Gear to The Grand Tour and now to Our Man In…, it’s fascinating to see how he continues to reinvent himself.

After wrapping up The Grand Tour earlier this year, presenter James May has now officially announced that another one of his shows has been discontinued, as it was taken off the air by Amazon’s Prime Video.

In a natural and easy to read way, May aired three separate installments of Our Man In…, a travel series that took him to Japan, Italy, and India. Each episode delved into one specific country, with the first airing in 2020, followed by the second in 2022, and the third in 2024.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share some updates! It seems the beloved series, “Our Man In…”, has wrapped up production and there are no plans for more episodes. Consequently, you won’t find me contributing to that show anymore. Instead, I’ve embarked on a new adventure with James May and The Dull Men, so stay tuned!

However, this extended absence from home isn’t something I find appealing at the moment.

In his own words about his latest production titled “James May and the Dull Man,” he expressed, “What draws me now, as I enter the later stages of my life, are activities like arts and crafts. I have a strong desire to create things, play musical instruments, and appreciate paintings.

“So anything that involves that I’m very up for, and it may be a bit more of this.

We might intensify the next series a bit, exploring some concepts further and delving deeper into them for a more comprehensive approach.

Previously, there was speculation about whether May would potentially collaborate with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond from Top Gear and The Grand Tour once more, given that their shared project had concluded.

In simpler terms, during an interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, he mentioned, “I can’t completely dismiss the possibility, but remember, we’re all getting older. I’ve been involved for over 20 years and to be honest, none of us ever imagined it would last this long.

You can currently stream all episodes from James May’s “Our Man in…” series on Amazon Prime Video. Give it a try, as you can enjoy a 30-day free trial with Amazon Prime Video!
