Top Gun 3 Gets Very Promising Script Update From Christopher McQuarrie

Christopher McQuarrie, writer-producer for “Top Gun: Maverick,” recently shared some news about the upcoming sequel, tentatively titled “Top Gun 3.” The project was confirmed in January 2024, after the success of the Tom Cruise movie. Ehren Kruger, a co-writer for “Maverick,” is working on the script, and it’s rumored that Joseph Kosinski will be back as director. Actors Miles Teller, Glen Powell, and Cruise are expected to reprise their roles in this exciting sequel.

In a chat with Josh Horowitz on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the writer-director has disclosed that they’ve mapped out the storyline for “Top Gun 3”. McQuarrie mentioned that he has a clear idea of the plot and has even established the main structure or outline. Here’s what he shared:

It’s already figured out. Indeed, I was aware of what it involved. There wasn’t much difficulty in understanding it. I had assumed it would be challenging, but as it turned out, that assumption was misplaced. Walking into the room and asking, “Alright, what’s the plan?” led to Ehren Kruger presenting an idea, and after a single discussion, the foundation was laid. Consequently, it wasn’t difficult to solve. In fact, none of these situations are challenging to resolve.

As you begin to put your plans into action and delve deeper into understanding, you may find yourself pondering, “Why are these films crafted in such a way?” It’s not about the action itself, nor the grandeur of its presentation or the intricacy of its design – it’s all about the emotional impact.

More to come…
