On May 7th, the Steam release of ‘Touhou Spell Carnival‘ is set to go live, as confirmed by publishers Idea Factory International and developers Compile Heart and Sting.
The game titled “Touhou Spell Carnival” initially debuted on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in Japan on June 6, 2024. It was later released in the western markets on November 19, 2024.
A limited edition is also available via Idea Factory International’s Online Store.

About
Gensokyo—a remote land isolated from the Outside World, where humans and youkai live side-by-side.
On one occasion, Reimu Hakurei, the attendant of Hakurei Shrine, notices peculiar columns appearing conspicuously at different places across Gensokyo.
At the outset of the enchanting Spell Carnival, which was orchestrated by Yukari Yakumo, these markers indicated its commencement. During this festivity, participants would risk their magical Spell Cards in combat.
To uncover Yukari Yakumo’s real motives behind the abrupt commencement of the Spell Carnival, Reimu Hakurei decides to participate in the battle for the Spell Cards.
What is Touhou Project?
The Touhou Project is a fast-paced shoot ’em up game developed by Team Shanghai Alice, headed by ZUN. It’s set in the secluded world of Gensokyo, where strange occurrences, or disturbances, happen for various reasons. The narrative follows Reimu Hakurei, the priestess of Hakurei Shrine, as she and her companions work to resolve these unusual events.

Attributes can provide boosts and status effects. Use these boosts to your advantage, and maybe you’ll be able to collect extra loot from your victories!
- Find Peace in the Hakurei Shrine – Explore the Hakurei Shrine through the lens of Reimu Hakurei! Keep tabs on any active missions, revisit sub-events, strike a pose with Photo Mode, and even talk to some of your favorite Touhou Project characters in Hakurei Shrine as you progress through the story!
