Tower of God Spinoff Urek Mazino Launches—But You Can’t Read It in English Yet

Often, highly acclaimed manhwa series have supplementary materials or extra content once the main story concludes, as many web novels they’re based on include such elements. Given the immense popularity of Tower of God, it’s not shocking that a spinoff has been launched. Titled Urek Mazino, this spinoff follows the character Urek Mazino, who appeared in the original Tower of God series. New installments are scheduled for release every Tuesday, with the first chapter debuting on April 28th on Naver Webtoon.

At this point in time, it’s challenging to locate “Urek Mazino” in English as it is currently being serialized in Korean. However, given the popularity of “Tower of God” over the last 15 years and its global fanbase, it seems unlikely that a spinoff like “Urek Mazino” won’t be translated and distributed to the same audiences who appreciated the original series.

A Fresh Perspective of the Tower

In the main comic and animated adaptation of Tower of God, you primarily follow Bam’s viewpoint. Yet, the array of intriguing characters he encounters within the Tower is vast. This wealth of characters opens up numerous opportunities for additional side stories, even beyond those focusing on Urek Mazino, to be developed in the future.

Meanwhile, Urek Mazino can serve as supplementary material during the breaks between seasons for the anime. Fans are hoping it will tackle the animation quality concerns in the upcoming seasons. Although there’s already an abundance of Tower of God content thanks to its extensive original series, Urek Mazino is structured so that more stories can be gradually introduced as spin-offs, each focusing on a unique character much like how Urek Mazino does.

Urek Mazino Is the Perfect Character for a Tower of God Spinoff

Urek and Bam share many common traits, but perhaps the most notable difference is that neither of them aspire to rule the Tower. Unlike Bam who seeks his friend Rachel, Urek desires to depart from the Tower. Despite being one of its strongest active Rankers, he has been captivated by tales of the world beyond, a place teeming with countless stars and galaxies. To him, the Tower seems insignificant when compared to such a vast and expansive universe.

Similar to Bam, Urek often exhibits kindness, but primarily towards those he favors. Unlike some who might misuse their power, Urek refrains from such behavior, making him an ideal character for the upcoming spinoff. Moreover, the spinoff provides an opportunity to delve deeper into his relationship with Garam in “Urek Mazino”, thereby enriching both characters’ narratives. In this new adventure, Urek will encounter a mix of old and new faces, some familiar from the Tower and others yet to be introduced.

Currently, we don’t have any details about when the serialization of Urek Mazino is set to begin, but given the widespread popularity of Tower of God, it seems only a matter of time. Fingers crossed that Urek will be granted his desire to step back into the world beyond before wrapping up his series, allowing him to finally catch a glimpse of the world he’s always imagined.
