Kate Ford discusses the romantic adventures of her character, Tracy Barlow from Coronation Street, following their breakup with partner Tommy Orpington (played by Matt Milburn), this past week.
Due to being given a job opportunity in Southampton, Tommy found himself needing to decide between his relationship with Tracy and his love for football. It was evident that his passion lay with football, which is why he made his choice known to Tracy.
In a new interview shared by ITV, Ford discussed who she believes is the love of Tracy’s life.
She stated that if circumstances had been different, Tommy might have been ideal for Tracy. However, his intense passion for football always took priority over her, making her secondary in his life.
Had his attitude been different, she could have found great joy in their relationship, but instead, he’s excessively passionate about football, which leaves her feeling overshadowed. I believe among all her past connections, this was the one she desired to succeed the most.

Regarding Steve McDonald, played by Simon Gregson, the actress doesn’t foresee a reunion happening anytime soon. She states that Tracy is content with Steve being Amy’s father and maintaining a friendly relationship with him, rather than romantically.
Beyond that, does Tracy still harbor any residual emotions towards her runaway former finance, Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis?
Tracy had a deep affection for Rob, yet events unfolded that erased that love. It seems to me that she has moved past him, as the emotions she once felt for him appear to be a thing of the past now.
When asked if Tracy might find herself in danger since Rob will need her assistance the following week, Ford responded: “Initially, it doesn’t seem so, but as events unfold, she comes to understand that this situation is quite grave.
She believes he wouldn’t genuinely harm her, yet a trace of uncertainty lingers, which fuels a small amount of apprehension.

In response to Rob’s proposal of starting a new life together, I find myself utterly astonished. To me, it seems absolutely unbelievable and downright crazy.
There appears to be a large wound on one side of his body, possibly infected, which has left her convinced that he’s not in his right mind. Given the urgency of the situation, it seems unlikely that she can be convinced easily now. He needs immediate medical attention as he no longer makes logical sense.
Thankfully, working with co-star Baylis has been a much happier experience for Ford!
I found it truly delightful! He seems unchanged, as if time had no effect on him, and we immediately picked up where we left off.
“It was like he hadn’t gone and it was really nice to play scenes with him again.”
