Content warning: This story discusses suicide.

The Jeopardy! community has lost a memorable contestant.

In 2023, Laurin Bell, who appeared on a long-running television game show, tragically took her own life, as reported by her family members. She was only 41 years old.

With great sadness, we share that Laurin Bell took her life last night, as confirmed by her friend Kristen Joyner on March 24 via Facebook post. Laurin was an intelligent, witty, and radiant spirit. We ask you to hold everyone affected by this loss in your thoughts and prayers.

In addition to the tribute, Kristen posted a picture of the ex-contestant, who worked as an executive assistant, showing a bright smile during her episode on Jeopardy!’s 30th season. Furthermore, she disclosed that Laurin’s 14-year-old dog, Kinley, was transferred to a shelter in Polk County, Florida, and has just 10 days left to find a new home.

In the comments section of the tribute, numerous individuals expressed their sympathies towards Laurin, while several others suggested strategies for rescuing the dog before the deadline, offering helpful advice as owners.

A representative from Florida’s Medical Examiner’s Office informed the Daily Mail and U.S. Sun that an autopsy was conducted, and they are now conducting toxicology tests. They also confirmed that Laurin passed away on March 23rd.

TopMob News has reached out to the Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office for more information.

In February 2023, Laurin made an appearance on the well-known game show that is currently hosted by Ken Jennings (since he took over from Alex Trebek in 2021).

In that particular contest, Laurin faced off against renowned “Jeopardy!” competitor Blaine Smith and the formidable champion Kendra Westerhaus. Although Laurin didn’t progress to the next round, she made a memorable impact on the show’s viewers.
