Transformers One Post-Credits Scene Explained

As a lifelong Transformers fan who’s been through more transformations than Optimus Prime himself, I must say that “Transformers One” has truly outdone itself. The post-credit scene was a masterstroke, setting the stage for the epic conflict we’ve all been waiting for – the birth of the Autobots and Decepticons!

In a fresh reveal, Transformers One has unveiled glimpses into the past of Optimus Prime (originally Orion Pax) and Megatron (D-16). Critics are raving about this movie as one of the top productions showcasing the Autobots, Decepticons, and their rich history. Although a sequel for Transformers One hasn’t been announced yet, the post-credits scene is setting up future events. Fasten your seatbelts, Transformers enthusiasts, as this post-credits scene is paving the way for the introduction of Cybertron into the longstanding conflict we are familiar with.

Attention. We’re about to venture into significant plot details of Transformers: The First Movie, so if you prefer to avoid spoilers, consider stepping aside now. In the beginning scenes of Transformers: The First Movie, neither Autobots nor Decepticons are explicitly introduced. Instead, all Cybertronians appear without affiliations. Initially, D-16 and Orion Pax are portrayed as ordinary mining robots, incapable of transformation. Upon discovering that their ability to transform was stolen by Sentinel Prime, who is depicted as Cybertron’s savior, they respond differently to this shocking truth. Orion Pax becomes more determined, while D-16 feels betrayed, setting the stage for his eventual transformation into Megatron.

The Decepticons’ “High Guard” Beginnings

Sentinel Prime collaborated with the Quintessons and created a fresh version of Cybertron, providing them with Energon during construction. In this reborn world, notable Transformers such as Starscream, Shockwave, and Soundwave were sidelined. Later, D-16 encounters these ‘bots who share his desire for retribution against the current ruler of Cybertron. These events pave the way for the post-credits scene unfolding.

In the movie, one of the most significant figures impacting D-16 was a leader called Megatronus Prime. Among all the Primes, Megatronus Prime was the largest in size, but he and the others were eliminated by Sentinel Prime. Interestingly, the character who would later become Megatron wore Megatronus’ emblem with great honor. Although the Decepticons weren’t named during the main storyline of the film, they adopted Megatronus’ symbol as a battle cry in the post-credits scene of Transformers One, as D-16 eagerly embraced it to rally his troops.

Transformers One: The Post-Credits Scene

In the thick of the movie, I finally got my chance to settle the score with Sentinel Prime – I tore him apart with my own bare hands. With Defeat looming at the paws of Optimus Prime, I managed to flee the battlefield along with my newly assembled troops, the High Guard. In the final moments before the credits rolled, I branded my new army with the symbol of Megatronus Prime – now known as the Decepticon emblem. With Starscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave looking on in awe, I formally established the Decepticons, declaring them my troops, and inciting them to “rise up”. This marked the beginning of an epic conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons, igniting the war that would shake Cybertron to its very core.

On the flip side, Optimus has assembled his own group of Transformers that will one day become the Autobots. During the fallout between Orion Pax and D-16, both Bumblebee and Elita-1 stood by Orion’s side. The original Transformers animated series that kicked things off immediately started with Optimus and Megatron’s fight on the Planet Earth. Should a future sequel still explore the beginnings of the conflict between the Autobots and Decepticons, it would still be focused on Cybetron. Now that Sentinel Prime has been defeated, the future seems brighter for the Transformers but still has quite a bit to clean up in terms of what transpired during the film’s run time.
