Transformers Producer Confirms Next Live-Action Movie Is the Crossover Fans Have Been Waiting For

As a die-hard fan of Transformers and G.I. Joe, I can hardly contain my excitement for this upcoming crossover movie! Ever since Noah was recruited by the Joes at the end of “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” I’ve been eagerly waiting for more details about this project. And now, with Chris Hemsworth on board and a confirmed live-action crossover in the works, it feels like my childhood dreams are finally coming true!

The eagerly anticipated movie blend of Transformers and G.I. Joe is moving step by step towards materialization. In the finale of “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” in 2023, the main character Noah (Anthony Ramos) was approached by the G.I. Joe group, thereby connecting them with the Transformers. Earlier this year in May, Chris Hemsworth was selected to headline the cast for this crossover project. With the animated “Transformers One” now playing in cinemas, the series is already planning its next live-action sequel.

In an interview with Collider, Transformers franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura revealed that a crossover film featuring G.I. Joe is the next live-action movie set in the Transformers universe to be produced.

The producer announced that they plan to make a sequel to our current project, assuming it is successful. This will include an animated version, which will be independent of any live-action productions. Meanwhile, the next live-action movie will be a crossover.

Di Bonaventura further elaborated on the significant distinction between the earlier Transformers movies and the upcoming crossover, apart from the inclusion of the Joes. In Transformers One, the Autobots and Decepticons are given their own decision-making autonomy, distinct from the human characters that have been part of the live-action series. The aim is to maintain this concept in the crossover.

He clarified that rather than having the characters respond to human actions or the human narrative, their motivations need to be integrated into the story itself. This will make things more complex because managing a large number of characters in franchise movies is challenging, and it becomes increasingly difficult to create quality characters as the numbers grow. To overcome this, he suggested focusing on keeping the story smaller, which is what they are currently doing. They’re starting with multiple Joes, Transformers, and regular humans, and then the process of balancing these elements will follow. At this stage, their goal is to establish the larger framework. The challenge in this project, as he mentioned earlier, lies in finding the right tone and balance – deciding how much of the Joes and how much of the Transformers to include.

Transformers One is now playing in theaters.
