As a longtime fan of M. Night Shyamalan’s work, I’ve seen my fair share of twists and turns in his films. From “The Sixth Sense” to “Glass,” I’ve been captivated by his unique storytelling and intricate plots. So when I heard about his latest film, “Trap,” I was eagerly anticipating another mind-bending experience.
As a diehard movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly waiting for the release of “Trap,” starring Josh Hartnett and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. However, it seems that this thriller has left critics divided, with a 44% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so far. The movie revolves around a man and his daughter who find themselves in a dangerous situation, trapped in a concert hall with a serial killer (and 30,000 potential suspects).
Matt Singer, writing for ScreenCrush, gave the film a 7/10 rating and described it as “the most Hitchcock-inspired work Shyamalan has ever produced.” Conversely, Adam Graham of Detroit News stated that the movie is a “disorganized mix of half-baked ideas that leaves you bewildered at every turn. Unlike his usual practice of saving the twist for the end to derail his films, this time Shyamalan seems to have lost control from the very beginning.”
On the audience side, the movie is faring better. It currently sits at 67% positive.
The film includes unique compositions by Saleka Shyamalan, known as Lady Raven, signifying their second significant joint project following Saleka producing Ishana Night Shyamalan’s first directorial venture, “The Watchers.”
In the movie titled “Trap“, a father and his teenage daughter find themselves unwittingly caught up in a mysterious and ominous situation at a pop concert.
