Travis Kelce Reportedly Starring in Action-Comedy From John Wick Director

As a die-hard football fan and a connoisseur of unexpected crossovers between sports and entertainment, I can’t help but feel exhilarated by the news that Travis Kelce is diving headfirst into Hollywood! It’s not every day that we see an All-Pro tight end transition from the gridiron to the big screen, let alone under the tutelage of Chad Stahelski, the mastermind behind the John Wick franchise.

Following his successful domination of the National Football League, bagging several Super Bowl victories and being recognized among the greatest tight ends ever, Travis Kelce is now embarking on a new journey into the realm of entertainment. He’s set to host Saturday Night Live and secure a supporting role in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming series titled Grotesquerie. Kelce has already tested the waters of acting, but it seems he’s about to fully immerse himself next year as the All-Pro gears up to spearhead a movie production by Lionsgate.

As per recent updates from Insider, Travis Kelce is reportedly in discussions with Lionsgate for a role in “Loose Cannons”, an action-comedy that Chad Stahelski, director of “John Wick”, is producing. The Hollywood Reporter has corroborated this news, offering further insights about the upcoming project.

87Eleven Entertainment, co-produced by Stahelski along with Jason Spitz and Alex Young, is overseeing the production of “Loose Cannons”. The screenplay for this film is penned by Tim Dowling, who has previously worked on scripts like “Just Go With It” and “Role Models”.

According to THR, “Loose Cannons” revolves around a police station that disrupts the usual order by teaming up two unconventional, rebellious cops instead of assigning them to work with strict, rule-abiding officers.

It’s clear that Kelce is set to portray one of the two leading characters in this duo, but who his co-star will be remains unannounced. According to Sneider’s report, the movie is being referred to as a “two-hander,” indicating that both primary actors will be well-known figures.

It seems we might need to wait a while longer for updates on Loose Cannons, as it won’t start production until early next year due to the NFL’s current focus on its upcoming season that begins in two weeks. Key player Kelce, committed to the Kansas City Chiefs, will only be available during the offseason, which doesn’t begin for some teams until January. Given the Chiefs’ recent success, with victories in the last two Super Bowls and three of the last five, it’s unlikely that they’ll make any offseason plans before March.

During the recent off-season, Travis Kelce made his significant acting debut in Ryan Murphy’s new FX series titled “Grotesquerie.” Although specific details about his role are being kept confidential, the show revolves around a police detective and a nun as they unravel a string of gruesome crimes in a small town. The cast includes Niecy Nash, Lesley Manville, and Courtney B. Vance for “Grotesqerie.”

Before teaming up with Murphy, Kelce had an introduction to the entertainment industry through his relationship with global sensation Taylor Swift last year.
