Travis Kelce Shakes Off Jason Kelce’s Cheeky Taylor Swift Reference

As a longtime fan of both Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs, I must say that following their blossoming relationship has been a joyous rollercoaster ride. From the stadium PDA moments to the red carpet events, it’s clear that these two share an undeniable connection.

Travis Kelce knows Jason Kelce‘s game all too well.

Because of this, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs remained unfazed when his brother mentioned his girlfriend, who happens to be Taylor Swift.

On the latest episode of my favorite podcast, New Heights, shared on Christmas Eve, host Jason dropped a delightful tidbit for fellow Swifties like me. He mentioned a special discount code with the number 13 in it, a significant figure for Taylor, who was born on the 13th of December. This is a great opportunity to celebrate our beloved Taylor and save some money at the same time!

Jason playfully questioned, “What could that 13 be for?” He jokingly suggested, “Perhaps it’s chosen because it’s my preferred number.

In sync with your question,

Indeed, it was nearly two weeks ago that Dec. 13, Taylor’s 35th birthday, landed on a Friday.

But Jason also added another possible theory, reminding Travis, “I was number 13 in hockey.”

Following Travis’s praise for the Grammy-winning artist finishing her record-breaking Eras Tour, a humorous conversation between the two brothers soon ensued.

On the December 11th episode of New Heights, I couldn’t help but give a well-deserved shoutout to Tay. The extraordinary Eras Tour, at long last, has reached its conclusion.

Let me tell you, I’ve never experienced anything quite like this! Throughout its duration, a staggering number of more than 10 million fans were in attendance, collectively speaking. It’s absolutely mind-blowing!

On numerous occasions, Taylor has shown her support for Travis. Not too long ago, she was among those who cheered him on when the Chiefs triumphed over the Houston Texans on December 21st.

As the NFL player’s season progresses, you can count on the “Cruel Summer” artist to show up at even more game-day events.

She shared with Time magazine in December 2023, “I will witness him pursuing his passion, and we support each other unconditionally. There are others present too, but we don’t let it bother us.” Conversely, maintaining secrecy about one’s relationship requires an extraordinary level of effort to keep it hidden. Yet, we take pride in each other’s achievements.

And no, she’s not focused on the attention her attendance might bring.

She clarified that there’s a camera approximately a half-mile distant, but its location is unknown, along with the exact times it may be capturing her. As a result, she’s unsure if she appears on screen multiple times or just once. Her main focus is supporting Travis; she’s unaware if her visibility might be overexposure and potentially annoying some fathers, Brad-types, or Chads.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romantic journey started in July 2023, as Taylor’s Eras Tour visited Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

As a big fan of Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end attended the concert in the hope of presenting her with a friendship bracelet bearing his number. Unfortunately, he was unable to do so because of her pre-performance routines.

Travis explained on his New Heights podcast on July 26th that he felt let down since she doesn’t chat before or after her performances as she needs to preserve her voice for the 44 songs she sings. Consequently, he regretted not getting an opportunity to gift one of the bracelets he made for her.

Following his on-stage blunder, which he’d later call “rock solid,” Travis chose to take a chance and extend an invitation to the Grammy winner, asking her to come watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium.

He mentioned on The Pat McAfee Show that he made an invitation: “I tossed the idea out there, I suggested throwing the ball to her,” he said. “I told her, ‘I’ve noticed how you light up the stage at Arrowhead Stadium, maybe you could come and see me do the same, so we can both see who shines brighter.’ So, let’s wait and see what unfolds in the coming days.

When Travis initially met Taylor, he already had a mustache that he grew in August, during the training camp.

In his own words, he later reflected that during that period, “The mustache and the number 87 were quite legendary for a while, and I was sporting them when I first encountered Taylor.

According to a reliable source familiar with the matter, by early September, Travis and Taylor had been exchanging occasional texts and conversations.

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Following Travis’ invitation, Taylor attended the game with Donna Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium to watch her son play alongside the Chiefs against the Chicago Bears. Post-game, pictures emerged of Taylor and Travis showing affection publicly at a nearby bar.

Initially, rumors suggested their face-to-face encounter marked their first meeting, but later on, the “Karma” artist explained that they had already spent a considerable period developing their relationship prior to this event.

As Taylor noted, “We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

To show signs of their growing bond, Taylor invited her friends – Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, Sabrina Carpenter, and Antoni Porowski – to cheer for the Chiefs together at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as they played against the New York Jets.

A significant indication that Travis might be “The One” for Taylor is her growing friendship with Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Travis’ close friend and fellow NFL player, Patrick Mahomes. This bond has been fostered not just during their NFL matches but also in their personal lives outside of the games.

On October 14th, the couple unexpectedly starred on an episode of Saturday Night Live, marking their appearance on television as part of their romantic journey. They further seized New York City by attending the after-party for the NBC comedy series and enjoying a romantic evening at Waverly Inn.

During a week without a game, Travis took a trip to Argentina for the South American part of Taylor’s Eras Tour. Not only did the NFL player get closer to Scott Swift, Taylor’s father, at the November 11th concert in Buenos Aires, but he was also acknowledged from the stage with a special mention.

“Karma is that guy on the Chiefs,” Taylor sang, “coming straight home to me.”

Following the performance, the artist from Midnights could be spotted rushing towards Travis off-stage and enthusiastically planting a heartfelt kiss on him.

Taylor addressed the lavender craze surrounding her appearances at Travis’ games.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I embrace the joy of witnessing a loved one pursuing their passions. It’s all about mutual support and presence in each other’s lives. There might be others around, but our focus remains on our connection. Conversely, maintaining secrecy about relationships requires an excessive effort to ensure privacy, which is something I choose not to prioritize.

On December 17th, the music sensation transformed Travis’s game into a familial event by inviting her father to support him, with whom she cheered.

On New Year’s Eve for the very first time, Taylor and Travis celebrated the occasion side by side. When the clock chimed at the stroke of midnight on January 1st, they exchanged a loving kiss.

Taylor spent more time with Travis’ family, including his brother Jason Kelce and Kylie Kelce, at the Kansas City Chiefs matchup versus the Buffalo Bills.

On the day the Chiefs secured their place in the 2024 Super Bowl by winning the AFC Championship, Taylor met up with Travis on the football field. Their embrace and a heartfelt kiss marked the moment they expressed their love for each other, using the special term “L-word.

“Tay, I’m gonna enjoy with the guys,” he told her. “I love you—so much it’s not funny.”

On February 11, 2024, I joyously celebrated with my teammate on the vibrant Las Vegas field, as we had triumphantly secured the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory. In the heat of our triumph, we shared a passionate moment by locking lips.

On February 12th, Taylor shared clips of Travis on social media for the very first time, playfully mocking the fact that she had taken her parents out clubbing with the athlete following the Super Bowl.

Taylor Swift’s first Instagram post with Travis featured a selfie taken backstage during his Eras tour concert at Wembley Stadium, London, where they were joined by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

At the seventh Eras tour concert held in London’s Wembley Stadium, the NFL player made an appearance on stage alongside his girlfriend, assisting her during her rendition of “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.

In this photograph posted by Chariah Gordon, Taylor attended the initial game of the 2024-25 regular season with Travis, and it seems they were recreating a public display of affection reminiscent of October 2023. Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman is also present in the picture as Chariah’s boyfriend.

The duo were present at the wedding of Karen Elson, who tied the knot with Lee Foster, the proprietor of Electric Lady Studios, that took place in the city of New York.

The next day, the pair attended the men’s singles final match at the U.S. Open.

The two stepped out for a double dinner date with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds in NYC.
