Trevor Eve Teases Exciting Shoestring Reboot After Bergerac’s Success!

The timeless crime series “Bergerac” has been revived on U&Drama, with Damien Moloney stepping into the part that was originally held by John Nettles.

Yet, there exists a universe where Nettles didn’t assume the role initially, due to the fact that the series was born from the finale of another show – Shoestring.

Detective drama Shoestring first aired on BBC One in 1979 and 1980, starring Trevor Eve.

Following the culmination of season two, I found myself yearning for a change and delving into the world of theatre performances. Consequently, this prompted my colleagues to revamp certain plotlines and incorporate beloved aspects from Shoestring, leading us to birth Bergerac – an exciting new chapter in the realm of dramatic television.

In a conversation with TopMob magazine for their recent edition, Eve stated this factual point: “Indeed, as John Nettles remarks, ‘My whole career is due to Trevor Eve.’ I’m still hoping he’ll treat me to a drink someday.

When inquired if, considering the achievement of the Bergerac remake, he would favor a rejuvenation of Shoestring, he responded: “I’m uncertain who owns the rights currently. I held them for quite some time. However, Bergerac was on air for such an extended period. I’m not sure if Shoestring had the same level of influence.

By the way, every single day, I get asked about it, and I must say, I find that wonderful. You see, there was a time when I disliked conversations about Shoestring. However, I’m genuinely proud of this project now.

In the fresh installment of U&Alibi series, it’s Jack Wright portraying the lead role, who embodies the title persona – a prosperous patriarch mysteriously discovered deceased, seemingly from a suspected suicide.

Instead, it became apparent that the police began to question whether Wright had been killed instead, which meant everyone close to him – family and friends – were now considered potential suspects.

Meanwhile, Wright’s dramatic will turns them against one another.
