As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for shoot ’em ups and a deep appreciation for Japanese game development, I can hardly contain my excitement for the release of “TriggerHeart EXELICA Enhanced” on Nintendo Switch! Having played its predecessor back in 2009 on the PlayStation 2, I vividly remember the thrill of dodging bullets, racking up high scores, and immersing myself in its captivating narrative.
On April 24, 2025, the enhanced version of TriggerHeart EXELICA, titled “TriggerHeart EXELICA Enhanced,” will be released for Nintendo Switch in Japan. The developer, Cosmo Machia, made this announcement. The physical edition will retail at 4,950 yen, while the digital version will cost 4,500 yen. Additionally, a “Complete” bundle will be offered for 9,900 yen, featuring both TriggerHeart EXELICA Enhanced and the original game, a two-disc soundtrack CD, an enhanced player guidebook, a special box, and a unique box.
The “shoot ’em up” game is a revised version of the PlayStation 2 title with the same name, initially published by Alchemist on March 26, 2009 in Japan. This updated edition introduces new features to the original game TriggerHeart EXELICA, which can also be found on Switch. Among these additions are Faintear as a new playable character, an opening movie by P.A.WORKS featuring music by Ayane, an enhanced story mode with high-definition CGs, balance changes for existing characters, and various helpful features from the original game such as Training Mode, leaderboards, and vertical screen support, among others.
