Trump Extends TikTok Lifespan by 75 More Days!

TikTok is here to stay—for now.

Just a day before the app’s ban was set to take place, if ByteDance, based in China, couldn’t find a suitable buyer for its U.S. operations, President Donald Trump decided to extend the deadline.

On my platform, Truth Social, April 4th, I announced that my team has been diligently working on a plan to secure the future of TikTok. We’ve made significant strides in this effort. However, to finalize everything and obtain all necessary approvals, I am issuing an Executive Order to extend TikTok’s operation for another 75 days.

Later on, he expressed, “It’s important that TikTok stays active. We are eager to collaborate with TikTok and China to finalize the agreement. I appreciate your interest in this topic!

Two days ago, NBC News learned from a source involved in the talks that Amazon, led by Jeff Bezos, could potentially become a client.

The report indicates that Amazon submitted their proposal in a letter directed to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Yet, since the submission arrived just a few days before the deadline, it appears the offer wasn’t taken as a genuine contender.

Earlier this year, TikTok temporarily shut down on January 19 due to non-compliance with a law that had been passed during the tenure of former President Joe Biden. However, this downtime was brief as Donald Trump extended ByteDance’s deadline by 75 days when he took office.

An executive order extending the deadline provided guidance to the attorney general, directing them not to impose fines on internet service providers and app store platforms such as Google and Apple, for their continued support of TikTok.

Ever since he assumed office, Trump has consistently shown a strong resolve to ensure TikTok remains operational within the U.S.

On March 30, the 78-year-old informed reporters that there are many people who could become buyers, and there’s an enormous amount of curiosity surrounding TikTok.

Trump mentioned that ultimately, the decision regarding the sale lies with him, but he also expressed interest in TikTok, stating that many people are keen on purchasing it.

Despite Trump expressing assurance before April 5, his vice president admitted the complexities involved in finalizing such a significant commercial agreement.

Generally, deals of smaller size and lower capital requirements often take several months to finalize, as Vance explained to NBC News on March 14. However, we’re aiming to wrap up this particular deal by early April. I believe the main details will be evident. The challenge lies in completing all the necessary paperwork.
