The completion of the remake, “Truxton Extreme,” is almost here! This shoot ’em up game will be playable not only on PlayStation 5 but also on PCs, as revealed by THQ Nordic Japan and its developer Tatsujin. In the upcoming Steam Next Fest: June 2025 Edition, from June 10th to 17th, you’ll even have access to a demo for PC!
The game titled “Truxton Extreme” marks the first fresh addition to the “Truxton” or “Tatsujin” series in Japan, after a gap of 37 years. Initially announced for release in 2024, it has since been postponed to an undisclosed future date.

Truxton Extreme comes packed with several gameplay options, ensuring everyone can experience the thrill of a shoot ’em up. This includes the inaugural Story Mode, offering an engaging narrative filled with high-stakes space battles and emotional human drama, as well as the classic Arcade Mode and additional modes for further enjoyment.
The new Interactive Digital Comic system in Story Mode enhances immersion by presenting dynamic interactive sequences within comic frames, providing a unique blend of comic reading and shoot ’em up gaming action. Meanwhile, Arcade Mode offers players an adrenaline-pumping, looping gameplay experience as they strive to set the highest scores possible.
In the course of overcoming opponents, you’ll notice the arrival of “Pipiru Aliens.” Accumulating a large number of these aliens enables you to construct your unique “Pipiruville.”
As you vanquish foes, you’ll see that “Pipiru Aliens” emerge. By gathering plenty of them, you can create your personalized “Pipiruville.
Through continuous play, your vessel advances in rank, revealing fresh discoveries on every occasion. You’ll encounter hidden tricks that can be demolished with particular weaponry at strategic spots, providing an engaging and unique gaming experience for both novice explorers and seasoned space combat experts.

Story
In a future where human civilization had spread across seven Earth-like planets, peace reigned until an unexpected alien attack disrupted the harmony. Since our military structure had been dismantled, we lost all seven colonies in this invasion. To regain our defenses, humans engineered a cutting-edge combat aircraft, but it was not built for a living pilot; instead, it required the pilot to leave their physical body behind.
Is there someone ready to take up such a selfless act…? By reclaiming the seven colonized worlds that have gone astray and shielding Earth from extraterrestrial aggression, these brave individuals embarked upon a challenging journey. They earned the title of… “Defenders.
