Twisted Metal Actor Has Heard About a "Special Release" Bundle Coming to PS5 in 2025

As a lifelong Twisted Metal enthusiast who has been through the high-octane chaos of these games since the days of the original PlayStation, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the potential revival of some classic titles. The rumors of a special release featuring Twisted Metal: Head-On, Twisted Metal 2, and Twisted Metal: Black have been circulating for quite some time now, and as someone who has spent countless hours behind the wheel of Sweet Tooth’s twisted cab, I can only hope that these are more than just whispers in the gaming community.

The hit game Twisted Metal has seen unexpected triumph on Peacock, with a second season now in production. This is remarkable considering the franchise was largely left behind by PlayStation. However, it seems things might be shifting. J.S. Gilbert, the voice actor for Sweet Tooth, hints at whispers of a “unique launch” for three classic Twisted Metal games: Twisted Metal: Head-On, Twisted Metal 2, and Twisted Metal: Black. In a Reddit post, Gilbert suggested this collection could drop next year.

Gilbert shared that there might be a re-release of Head On, TM2, and TM: Black, possibly in 2025, under the title ‘refreshed.’ He also hinted at the possibility of him providing voiceover for a new TM game, but he’s not expecting it to happen. In other words, it could be a long shot.

In the television show “Peacock’s Peacock,” Sweet Tooth is given voice by actor Will Arnett. Gilbert speculates that Arnett might voice the character in future Twisted Metal games as well. It’s the first time such a possibility has been raised, so fans should treat it as a rumor for now. Despite this, Arnett does have some background in video game voice acting, having worked on titles like “LEGO Dimensions” and “Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.” On one hand, Arnett’s involvement could link the streaming series to the games, but it might also upset long-standing fans of the franchise.

In this current console era, PlayStation has been devoting considerable attention to updating past games and offering them on both PS5 and Steam. A remastered compilation of older Twisted Metal games not only aligns with that approach but also represents a shrewd move by PlayStation to revive the series. Given that it’s been over a decade since the last Twisted Metal release, if PlayStation intends to rejuvenate the franchise, now appears to be the ideal moment for such an endeavor.
