Twisters Cast Still Joking About Wild Sequel Ideas in Their Group Chat

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of entertainment under my belt, I must say that the prospect of a Twisters sequel has me both intrigued and skeptical. The original film was a rollercoaster ride of adrenaline-pumping action and emotional depth, and any follow-up will have massive shoes to fill.

The movie “Twisters” has been one of the hits at the box office this summer, consistently drawing crowds to cinemas. Its strong performances over the weekends, particularly in North America where the 4DX edition of the film was re-released, have propelled it to earn over $360 million worldwide. Remarkably, it continues to hold its own even with its availability on video-on-demand platforms. Given this level of success, a sequel seems imminent, and the actors associated with the film have been discussing a possible continuation for quite some time.

Certainly, given the uncertainty surrounding a potential sequel, their brainstorming sessions for “Twisters 2” have ventured into some quite unconventional territories. By unconventional, we mean absolutely extraordinary. ComicBook recently had a chat with “Twisters” actress Sasha Lane, who shared insights on the sequel discussions within the cast group. She confessed that a significant number of ideas have been humorous, with characters traveling to space and a drone battling Superman being the suggestions that often surface most frequently.

Lane shared with us that they often exchanged humorous remarks, both back then and now within their group chat. For instance, ‘Imagine Twisters in space!’ or ‘Lily’s drone versus Superman!’, which is one of their favorites. According to Lane, even though they don’t know what the future holds, they try to emulate their on-screen behavior, acting a bit mischievous and simply speculating about where life will take them. However, it’s mostly about Lily’s drone encountering Superman.

In nine films, the Fast and Furious series has yet to venture into space, and merging it with DC’s Superman seems highly unlikely (given his Midwestern origins). Therefore, don’t anticipate these concepts ever becoming reality. On the other hand, a follow-up to Twister appears quite probable.

As a dedicated gamer, I find myself immersed in the world of Twisters, where I play as Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser who’s swapped her tornado-chasing van for a high-tech command center. When the chance to test groundbreaking gear comes knocking, I hop on board and venture into the heartland to chase twisters. This journey pits me against not only the deadly whirlwinds but also Tyler Owens, a popular social media sensation. As Oklahoma’s storms escalate, it’s a race against time to join forces with Tyler and utilize our distinct abilities to weather the craziest weather conditions conceivable.

The movie “Twisters” features Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane, Daryl McCormack, Kiernan Shipka, Nik Dodani, Katy O’Brian, and Maura Tierney. Lee Isaac Chung takes the helm as director for this sequel, with Mark L. Smith penning the script. Currently playing in cinemas, “Twisters” can now be purchased or rented on digital VOD platforms.
