Twisters Star Talks Being "Terrified" To Follow in Philip Seymour Hoffman's Footsteps

As a huge fan of the original “Twister” film from the ’90s, I was both excited and saddened to hear about the release of the new movie, “Twisters.” Although this new film doesn’t feature any cameos from the original cast due to the unfortunate passing of Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman, it still manages to capture the essence of the first film.

As a huge fan of the original “Twister” movie from 1996, I was both excited and apprehensive when I heard about the new film with the same name hitting theaters this weekend. Having grown up watching Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman bring their characters to life on the silver screen, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness knowing that two of the main stars have since passed away.

“Upon receiving the script, I was unsure which role I was auditioning for,” Perea shared. “I obtained it merely to gauge my interest. However, the parts were mistakenly labeled. As I read on, I jokingly remarked to my companion, ‘Wow, there’s this humorous character named Boone. He seems like he’ll carry a heavy burden, poor soul who plays him.’ In the end, I was that unfortunate soul.”

“I was certainly frightened, but I felt fortunate to contribute something noteworthy in your production. That’s what Phil Hoffman excelled at throughout his career: delivering memorable supporting roles with a touch of charm. He shone in the first film, and I aimed to add a hint of that delightful essence. I hope I managed to achieve it.”

As a gamer, I found Boone’s character to be incredibly open and unfiltered, making it effortless for me to dive in headfirst and experiment with different approaches. I can honestly say that Boone presented the most natural and carefree acting experience I’ve ever encountered. The freedom to run around, let out screams, and have a blast made this role an incredibly enjoyable and effortless journey. A big thanks to the talented cast and crew who supported me throughout this wild ride!

In simpler terms, the movie “Twisters” focuses on Kate Cooper (played by Daisy Edgar-Jones), a storm researcher who used to chase tornados but now works safely in New York City due to a traumatic experience during her college years. Her friend, Javi (Anthony Ramos), entices her back to the open fields to try out an innovative tracking system. There, she encounters Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a charismatic and risk-loving social media star who enjoys sharing his storm-chasing experiences with his rowdy group. As the storm season becomes more intense, unprecedented storms emerge, placing Kate, Tyler, and their rival teams directly in the path of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma, forcing them to battle for survival.

Led by the direction of Lee Isaac Chung in “Minari,” the film “Tornadoes” features an impressive cast including Brandon Perea known for “Nope,” Sasha Lane starred in “American Honey,” Daryl McCormack is recognized from “Peaky Blinders,” Kiernan Shipka gained fame with “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” Nik Dodani has acted in “Atypical,” David Corenswet was seen in “Superman,” Katy O’Brian graced our screens in “Love Lies Bleeding,” and Maura Tierney, a Golden Globe winner, appeared in “Beautiful Boy.”
