Twitch’s Head of Music Cindy Charles Dead After Garbage Truck Crash

As a dedicated follower of the music industry and a lover of strong, vibrant personalities, I am deeply saddened by the loss of Cindy Charles. Her passing leaves a gaping hole not only in her family but also in the community she so passionately served.

The music community is in mourning after a tragic traffic collision.

Cindy Charles, who led Twitch’s Music Department, tragically passed away following an accident involving a garbage truck on a canal path in Amsterdam. At the time of her death, she was 69 years old.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it as follows: On October 14th, I found myself strolling by Amsterdam’s Jordaan neighborhood, near the Passeerdersgracht canal. Unfortunately, around 1 p.m., I was involved in an accident there. Despite swift action from emergency responders, I succumbed to my injuries at the scene.

Law enforcement officials interrogated the truck driver, as reported by local news source Algemeen Dagblad. The investigation continues to determine the cause and responsibility of the incident, and it remains undecided whether charges will be brought against them by the Dutch Public Prosecution Service.

TopMob News has reached out to authorities in Amsterdam but has not yet heard back.

Charles’ spouse, Ricky Fishman, who rekindled their romantic relationship in recent times after becoming friends with the businesswoman during their college years at SUNY Buffalo in the 1970s, posted on Facebook, confirming the sad news of his wife’s passing with a heart-wrenching tribute.

Fishman expressed that the void left in the universe by Cindy’s passing from this world cannot be filled. Being a co-parent to both Ben (from his previous marriage) and Sam, Fishman wrote on October 15th. Cindy was a giver of love and a receiver of it too, creating an extraordinary circle of friends that I have never seen matched by anyone else I’ve known. Many are mourning her loss at this moment.

Fishman continued to praise his wife’s achievements in her field, stating, “She excelled at the highest level and was a legendary figure within the music business.

Later on, Daniel Clancy, the CEO of Twitch, expressed similar sentiments as Fishman did – he highlighted the significant role she played in the success of the live-streaming video service provider.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) on October 18th, Clancy stated that while many members of the Twitch community might not recognize Cindy’s work, she heads our team dealing with our music industry connections. With a rich background in the music industry, Cindy has played an essential role in establishing and strengthening the relationships we have now.

He continued, “Anyone that uses music on Twitch owes a debt of gratitude to Cindy’s work. She always had a bright smile on her face even as she negotiated unprecedented music licensing agreements for Twitch including the recent DJ agreement.”

Clancy went on to note that Charles’ legacy will stem beyond her business dealings.

He noted, “We’ll deeply mourn her departure and feel sorrowful about it. A piece of her spirit, which she shared with us throughout our long-term collaboration, will continue to stay with everyone here.

Charles traveled to an European city back in October, where he took part in a panel discussion at the Amsterdam Dance Event. In a Medium article published on Oct. 18, one of his colleagues, Kira Karlstrom, who was also present in the city for the event, gave a vibrant description of working alongside and befriending this 69-year-old individual.

In every social gathering, be it dinner parties, music events, or conferences filled with lifelong companions, I found Cindy shining brightly. Her genuine happiness in these settings was palpable, and it’s clear that these moments were truly special for her.
