Capcom has announced that a second open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds is set for February 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The beta will run over two weekends: from the 6th through the 9th, and again from the 13th to the 16th. Players can join in regardless of platform as crossplay is supported, and no PS Plus subscription is required.
According to a video by producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, during the second beta phase, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in combat with the recurring Gypceros monster. Additionally, all content from the initial pre-launch test will be accessible. Furthermore, your custom character can be moved over too and retained for the final game as well.
The initial Monster Hunter Wilds beta wasn’t perfect; Capcom acknowledged this, saying that it has sparked numerous improvements as they aim to complete development before the game’s release on 28th February 2025. Exciting weapon upgrades and a more refined hitstop mechanic are planned, but unfortunately, these updates won’t be available in the second beta test.
Capcom clarified in a subsequent tweet that changes made to aspects like performance, game balance, weapon mechanics, bug fixes, and more from the Pre-Launch Community Update won’t be present in Open Beta Test 2 (OBT 2). It remains uncertain whether OBT 2 will utilize the exact same build as the initial test, but the first test version had noticeable graphical and frame rate issues.
