In the past, when My Hero Academia’s manga was still ongoing, a theory about a U.A. traitor captivated fans for years. Characters like Principal Nezu and Class 1-A students such as Kaminari, Hagakure, and even Tokoyami were suspected of being the traitor. However, as the Final Act Saga unfolded in My Hero Academia, it was revealed that Yugo Aoyama was indeed the traitor. This revelation led to a significant role for him in the Final War and the defeat of All For One. Despite his betrayal, neither the series’ fans nor Aoyama’s classmates could harbor resentment towards him. The latest release of My Hero Academia has finally given Yugo Aoyama the happy ending he deserves, one that fans have long awaited for him.
In Chapter 425 of My Hero Academia, Aoyama departed U.A., allowing Shinso to take his place in Class 1-A. By Chapter 427, the class threw Aoyama a farewell party. Although he was with Deku and the rest of the class in the final spread of Chapter 430, it remained uncertain if or how he became a pro-hero. However, an extra epilogue chapter within Volume 42 confirmed that Aoyama had joined Hagakure’s agency as a sidekick. Now, the latest My Hero Academia fanbook discloses how he eventually became a pro-hero.
My Hero Academia Reveals Aoyama Rejoined U.A.
In a recent development, the final fanbook for the popular series “My Hero Academia,” titled “My Hero Academia: Ultra Age: The Final Fan Book,” has been released. This book, penned by Kohei Horikoshi, sheds light on Aoyama’s destiny after he parted ways with U.A. in the concluding chapters of the series. In an excerpt from the fanbook shared online by @aitaikimochi, Horikoshi was questioned about whether Aoyama switched schools post his dropout from U.A., but it turns out that after Aoyama surrendered himself to the authorities for aiding All For One, he decided to re-enroll at U.A. instead.
Was it the case that Aoyama moved to a different school following his withdrawal from U.A., or did he subsequently re-enroll somewhere else after his legal issues?

Given the events in Chapter 425, it was reasonable for Aoyama to be readmitted into U.A. since Tsukauchi and Aizawa had told him he could remain. However, Aoyama felt compelled to make amends for his past actions, which is why he eventually chose to leave. It’s plausible that Aoyama completed some sort of penance or community service as a way to atone for his act of betrayal, although this isn’t explicitly stated by Horikoshi.
Despite ongoing debates among fans about how effectively the U.A. traitor storyline was handled, there’s no fan who would contest that Aoyama ended up as a hero in the end. While some anticipated a harsh betrayal reveal, it was challenging not to feel empathy for Aoyama instead. The revelation of his quirkless past made him a pitiful counterpart to Deku, and had Deku met All For One instead of All Might, he might have followed the same destructive path. In conclusion, it’s heartening to see that My Hero Academia granted Aoyama a happy ending, allowing all members of Class 1-A to become heroes together in the end.
