Ubisoft Delays New Rainbow Six, Division Games

As a dedicated fan of Ubisoft and the Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise, I was both excited and disappointed by the latest earnings report. On one hand, it’s reassuring to see the success of Rainbow Six Siege, with its record-breaking season 1 of Year 9 and the full release of the marketplace leading to sustained growth in transactions. This gives me hope that Ubisoft is committed to expanding the Rainbow Six franchise to mobile platforms with Rainbow Six Mobile.

Ubisoft’s Q1 2024-25 earnings report brought little excitement, focusing mainly on achievements for XDefiant and franchise expansion. However, there was a setback regarding the mobile releases of The Division and Rainbow Six, which have been postponed from their initial forecasted release in this fiscal year to April 2025 at the earliest. Developers reportedly require additional time to meet expectations for these mobile projects.

As a long-time fan of Ubisoft games, I’m always eagerly anticipating the latest additions to their lineup. According to the earnings report I recently read, we can look forward to Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws in the second half of this fiscal year, FY25. However, there seems to be a slight change in plans regarding Rainbow Six Mobile and The Division Resurgence.

An excerpt from the earnings report highlights the prosperity of the Rainbow Six series, specifically Rainbow Six Siege, earlier in the text. According to this section, the game commenced the year with outstanding results, attributable to a significant surge in session days (+34%) and session days per player (+18%), as well as an increase in revenue generation.

During the last quarter, Year 9 Season 1 of Rainbow Six Siege brought in the most revenue ever recorded in the game’s history. Additionally, the marketplace had its official launch and maintained consistent sales activity. The success of Rainbow Six Siege provides optimism for the upcoming mobile version, as Ubisoft aims to build upon the increasing fan base. However, this positive outlook does not extend to The Division Resurgence.

From a gamer’s perspective, I can’t help but feel uncertain about the future of Tom Clancy’s The Division franchise. Only two months ago, Ubisoft announced the cancellation of The Division Heartland in mid-May. They mentioned their intention to direct resources towards “larger projects,” which is not an encouraging sign for The Division Resurgence’s development progress.
