Ubisoft Forward is Not Happening This Year

Instead of the usual Ubisoft Forward event taking place in June, as it has in previous years, there seems to be no such showcase planned by Ubisoft this time around, amidst all the other announced gaming events like Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase.

A spokesperson for the company informed Stephen Totilo from Game File that the planned showcase has been cancelled. Instead, they will take part in the forthcoming IGN Live and PC Gaming Show. They expressed their excitement about interacting with their players and presenting their games, adding that they are still seeking ways to disclose updates and anticipate sharing further details at a later time.

It’s possible that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” might unveil its June update during the PC Gaming Show. As for additional information about content coming this year, such as the “Claws of Iwaji” expansion, we’ll have to wait and see. There are whispers suggesting that the open-world action RPG will continue to be supported for at least two more years following its launch, with a co-op mode expected in the next year.

This year, there won’t be a Ubisoft Forward event like usual, which is where the company showcases its games in both digital and in-person formats around June. Instead, Ubisoft will join IGN Live on June 7th and 8th, as well as the PC Gaming Show on June 8th. Additionally, they are planning to participate at GamesCom as well.

The representative from the company mentioned they’re consistently excited to interact with their players and present their games… They’re still investigating ways to deliver updates, and they’re eager to disclose further details in due course.

It seems unlikely that Ubisoft has many major games planned for the remainder of the year, given their focus on cost reduction. Consequently, it’s not surprising that they are postponing some releases, including Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, which currently only has a release schedule up to June, with a more general “later this year” for its first expansion. However, the uncertainty surrounding the exact timing of the expansion still piques my curiosity.
