Ubisoft Responds to Questions About Delaying Star Wars Outlaws

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have seen my fair share of hype and disappointment. The recent reveal of Star Wars Outlaws left me feeling a tad concerned, despite Ubisoft’s unwavering commitment to its August 30th release date.

Although the early feedback to Star Wars Outlaws from IGN’s gameplay preview was underwhelming, Ubisoft has maintained that the game’s release date on August 30th will not be postponed. At present, IGN’s YouTube video of the first ten minutes has garnered around 8,600 “likes,” but the number of “dislikes” is close to doubling this figure and currently stands at roughly 15,000. During their recent investors call discussing Q1 sales for fiscal year 2024-2025, some Ubisoft executives acknowledged concerns about the game and discussed the possibility of delaying its release to address player feedback.

“Ubisoft’s CFO, Frederick Duguet, has confirmed the release date of the game: it’s golden and will be available starting August 30. He remains confident about the project, looking forward to revealing more details soon. The game offers an expansive open world with top-notch content and countless hours of exploration across multiple planets, ensuring a rich and immersive experience.”

Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft’s CEO, agreed with Duguet, stating, “Just like Star Wars, the detail and overall feel of our world will impress. Our engine truly shines here, and I believe players will be thrilled.”

As a long-time fan of Star Wars, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment and frustration every time I read about the latest addition to the franchise causing controversy before its release. I’ve been following the developments surrounding The Acolyte with bated breath, and the news of its review bombing on IGN’s YouTube video has left me feeling disillusioned.
