Ubisoft Says it Has “Started an Exploration Phase on the Rayman Brand”

As a seasoned gamer with memories of my childhood filled with the whimsical adventures of Rayman, hearing about this potential resurrection of the franchise brings a spark of excitement to my heart. After all these years, it seems that our beloved platforming hero is set to return, and I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia tinged with anticipation.

Following more than a decade of inactivity, the Rayman franchise appears to be stirring once more. Last year, the character made an appearance in an expansion for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and now it seems Ubisoft’s platforming icon is set to star in his own game as well.

A recent leak suggests that a new version of Rayman is being created at Ubisoft Milan, with the original series creator, Michel Ancel, advising on the project. Some members of the development team are worried about his involvement because of previous accusations of problematic leadership from him.

According to a statement made by Ubisoft, their Milan and Montpellier studios have begun investigating the Rayman brand, suggesting potential new projects. At this stage, the project remains in its early development.

The representative also confirmed that Ancel is indeed consulting on the project in order to “ensure consistency within the universe”.

Indeed, while it doesn’t definitively prove a fresh Rayman game (or possibly a remake, according to leaks) is on its way, it certainly points towards that possibility quite strongly. At the very least, it suggests we should be keeping our eyes open for potential news.

According to Ubisoft, both Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are currently conducting an initial phase for the Rayman franchise. To maintain continuity within the Rayman universe, they are consulting with the original creator, Michel Ancel.
