Ubisoft’s Avatar game is finally getting two features it should have had all along — better late than never

Back in the day, when Ubisoft unveiled what was then called The Avatar Project, I couldn’t help but feel excited about it. That excitement grew even stronger since Massive Entertainment, creators of my all-time favorite game, The Division franchise, were behind it.

As a huge fan, I dived into this game world reminiscent of Pandora, yet after spending some time there, I found myself feeling a tad underwhelmed. Undeniably stunning, the visual representation of Pandora in this game is breathtaking; however, something seems amiss.

The problem has been fixed, so I can resume my duties. This is great news since Ubisoft is finally implementing a third-person mode, which was necessary from the start.

Ever since I saw Pandora for the first time on the big screen in 2009, it has left a lasting impression on me. However, while playing the game, I found that the first-person perspective was limiting. It didn’t allow me to fully appreciate the stunning landscapes, which are essential components of the Avatar experience as they immerse players deeply into the world.

My desired gameplay experience leans towards third-person perspective, similar to The Division series, and ideally developed using the same engine as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. However, it’s disappointing to learn that its release isn’t expected until December, which coincides with the next Avatar film’s premiere in cinemas.

By hitting a button, players can switch to Third-Person View, offering a fresh perspective as they traverse Pandora. This mode allows for exploration of the Wild West, battles against RDA, or just enjoying the scenic vistas. The Third-Person Mode provides a greater feeling of size, liberty, and engagement because the developers have fine-tuned animations, controls, audio, and camera systems to create a smooth and user-friendly experience.

On December 5th, I’ll also be introducing the New Game+ mode from my perspective as an analyst. This exciting update allows players to re-experience the campaign with their existing skills and equipment intact. Additionally, a fresh skill tree will become accessible, enhancing gameplay dynamics for a more challenging and rewarding experience.

It seems more astonishing to me that New Game+ hasn’t been added sooner rather than other things. Although there is fresh content, there hasn’t been a compelling incentive to play again once you reach the end.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide my excitement as the holiday season approaches; after all, it’s been two whole years since Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was launched, and for the first time, I might just get to explore that lush world! Compared to the wait for GTA 6, at least this release is imminent.
