As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for family-friendly titles and a heart full of nostalgia for the golden age of platformers, I must say it’s truly heartening to see Astro Bot making its way into the UK’s top 10 sales chart. Having spent countless hours navigating through the charming, vibrant worlds of Astro Bot: Rescue Mission on my trusty PlayStation VR, I can attest to its sheer joy and immersive gameplay.
As the festive holiday approaches within the next few days, the UK’s physical top 10 chart is dominated by popular bestsellers. However, Astro Bot has managed to make its way into the mix and compete fiercely.
10th position has reached its peak in several weeks, probably because people are purchasing PlayStation 5 consoles for Christmas and also picking up the family-friendly platformer game as an accompaniment.
At the peak of the stack, we find Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Right behind it are Hogwarts Legacy and EA Sports FC 25, standing in second and third positions respectively. It was a given that these three would be competing fiercely for the top spot as the holidays draw near.
The space separating the third and tenth positions in this competition is occupied by games published by Nintendo, demonstrating a remarkable longevity for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
