2024’s Ultimate Spider-Man remains an exhilarating reimagining of Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, introducing a fresh perspective to Peter Parker’s iconic symbiote suit. In issue #7 of Ultimate Spider-Man, we encounter an entertaining twist on Spidey’s rapid-fire dialogue, as his new suit is equipped with an AI system that mirrors Peter’s personality. In issue #8, this AI assistant subplot takes a more sinister turn – both metaphorically and literally.

In issue #8 of “Ultimate Spider-Man”, three weeks have passed since Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Harry Osborn/Green Goblin encountered time-traveling Tony Stark. Now, Peter is organizing a birthday party for his children when he has an unexpected chat with his suit, which suddenly starts talking on its own. This development unnerves Peter, and he inquires about the capabilities of his suit without his knowledge. The suit hints at having many abilities that Peter is unaware of, promising more revelations after the party.
The initial scene featuring Peter’s suit sets up the expectation that the symbiote storyline in Ultimate Spider-Man (2024) will be significantly different from its original portrayal. Instead of being a genetic experiment, the symbiote is now delving into contemporary themes such as artificial intelligence and advanced tactical equipment, which the comic explores.
Ultimate Spider-Man’s New Symbiote Suit Explained
A scene set in the past shows Tony Stark meeting Spider-Man and Green Goblin, where we learn more about the advanced armor technology known as “picotech” that Spider-Man possesses. This tech was created by Tony’s late father, Howard Stark, and is so advanced that even Tony can’t replicate it himself. In this scene, Tony explains that Howard had a list of individuals whose heroic actions were to be thwartomed by The Maker, an evil version of Reed Richards who reshaped the Ultimate Universe to suit his own purposes. Peter Parker was at the top of The Maker’s list of potential threats to his plan, which is why he was chosen to use the picotech suit.
Similar to an extraterrestrial symbiote, Spider-Man’s picotech suit adapts to any garment in any fashion and offers protection to Peter, all while being lightweight and adaptable. The AI personality and its playful hints are the initial indications that this suit might be stronger than Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit or Harry Osborn’s Green Goblin suit (both of which are Starktech).
