Miles Morales is getting ready to return to the Multiverse, but not the one he’s accustomed to. The original Ultimate Universe, which was known to him, ceased to exist due to the 2015-2016 ‘Secret Wars’ event. A handful of characters, such as Miles Morales, were shifted to the primary Marvel Universe (Earth-616). Following a period of inactivity, a fresh Ultimate Universe was established during the ‘Ultimate Invasion’ miniseries, leading to new series like ‘Ultimate Spider-Man‘, featuring an older Peter Parker who is married and has children. We are now into the second year of this new Ultimate Universe, and its first limited series sees Miles encountering characters from the Ultimate Universe line.
Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion” is a five-part limited series penned by Deniz Camp (“Ultimates“), Cody Ziglar (“Miles Morales: Spider-Man“), and Jonas Scharf (“Ultimate Universe: One Year“). Marvel teases that “Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion” will deliver on the promises made by Ultimate Universe architect Jonathan Hickman since the inception of this new line. This series also signifies the first crossover event for the Ultimate Universe, setting the stage for upcoming changes, including the reappearance of a malevolent figure who has long plagued this distorted world: The Maker.
It’s an honor and joy for me to participate in the initial crossover event of the Ultimate Universe, sharing this experience with Cody and Jonas. For the first time, I’m also diving into the Spider-man universe, and it’s been a delight writing not only Miles, but also some other Spider characters that you might recognize! The opportunity to view various corners of the Marvel universe through Miles’ perspective, as well as expand on characters we’ve previously introduced in Ultimates, promises a series brimming with intriguing characters, groundbreaking moments, and exciting twists!”

Ziglar expressed his immense enthusiasm about the prospect of reintroducing Miles to the universe that initially sparked his fascination with superhero comics, and more importantly, the world where Miles was born. He’s thrilled to see what Deniz and their team have been creating in the latest Ultimate series, and he’s eager to witness Miles grapple with being a child of two distinct realms.
The upcoming event titled “Ultimate Incursion” was hinted at in the first issue of Marvel’s special end-of-year comic, “Timeslide.” Alongside other imminent happenings, the phrase “Ultimate Incursion” was displayed. While some fans have suggested that an Ultimate crossover is premature, it seems that Marvel is determined to proceed with their plans without delay for this event.
The initial releases for the Ultimate series feature “Ultimate Spider-Man”, “Ultimate Black Panther”, “Ultimate X-Men”, and “The Ultimates”. Year 2 of the Ultimate Universe introduced “Ultimate Wolverine” and hinted at additional titles to come. Each comic offers fresh perspectives on characters and antagonists, providing fans with a distinctive insight into what drives each figure.
In the first issue of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, the narrative goes: “Miles Morales finds himself in a universal clash!” Prior to the reformation of Earth-6160 by The Maker, he had left Miles Morales with a key to access a new universe… and when Miles’ little sister, Billie, employs this key for travel to the Ultimate Universe, it becomes Miles’ responsibility to rescue her! Yet, the Ultimate Universe has never been secure for any Spider-Man. As the villain Spot attacks, Miles will have to unite with a brand-new Peter Parker – and that’s just the beginning of his adventure across Earth-6160…
