BBC recently revealed the initial images of their upcoming intense drama titled “The Cage.” This captivating series will feature Sheridan Smith and Michael Socha in leading roles.
In the imaginative realm of Tony Schumacher, known as The Responder, the story unfolds in the vibrant setting of a casino in Liverpool, centered around two captivating figures, Smith and Socha, who take center stage.
And a first look isn’t all we have to get excited about, with additional casting now confirmed.
Barry Sloane (House of the Dragon), Geraldine James (Dope Girls), Anton Bibby, Freya Jones, Sophie Mensah (Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale) and Abby Mavers (Waterloo Road) are added to the cast.
Also featured in the cast are Shaun Mason, Louis Emerick, Ian Puleston Davies, Julia Papp, Katy Carmichael, Dave Hart, Eileen O’Brien, Eithne Browne, Mona Goodwin, among others.

In a twist of events, The Cage introduces Leanne (Smith) and Matty (Socha), two individuals who unknowingly share a secret – they both secretly rob from the casino where they work. As their clandestine activities intersect, their lives become entangled with each other, a ruthless local crime boss, and the law enforcement agency chasing them down.
Known as a captivating dramatic piece, “The Cage” was filmed within and surrounding the areas of Liverpool and Merseyside. This production is under the direction of Al Mackay, who has gained recognition for his previous works such as “Without Sin” and “Kidnapped: The Chloe Ayling Story”.

A number of spectators might be familiar with Socha due to his latest appearance in “Toxic Town” on Netflix, yet it’s worth mentioning that he also starred as a main character in season 2 of “Showtrial,” which aired on BBC One.
Over time, Smith has taken on various roles both onstage and onscreen, most recently appearing in The Castaways, No Return, and Rosie Molloy Gave It All Up.
