As a gamer, I must admit, when I first heard about Bandai Namco’s new take on Pac-Man, titled “Shadow Labyrinth,” I was taken aback. The fact that the classic character, Pac-Man, isn’t even in the title suggests a departure from the original arcade series we all know and love. And indeed, Shadow Labyrinth offers a unique spin on the franchise, making it a fresh and intriguing experience for fans and newcomers alike.
But, a fresh gameplay trailer for the side-scrolling action game reveals levels that will be reminiscent of the classics for longtime fans.
In some instances during the gameplay, you’ll find yourself assuming immediate command over Pac-Man. However, these aren’t your ordinary mazes as they swiftly reveal themselves to be quite unconventional in the trailer.

As a thrill-seeking enthusiast, I’m constantly discovering innovative methods to navigate the stages: whizzing through speed bursts, skittering off rebound platforms, and reshaping levels by munching pellets to dislodge blocks.
It appears that in these brightly lit stages, you’ll encounter colossal enemies as well, or you might face tasks such as consuming a specific quantity of spirits.
In these vibrantly lit areas, you’ll find big bosses and challenges like eating a certain number of ghosts.
In Shadow Labyrinth, Bandai Namco is venturing into uncharted territories for Pac-Man, predominantly offering a 2D action-platformer with a somber ambiance and formidable foes to battle. It appears that there are numerous twists on the original gameplay as well, and based on the sneak peeks, it seems promising.
On July 18th, 2025, the enigmatic Shadow Labyrinth will be available on PlayStation 5. What are your thoughts on this upcoming game? Feel free to share your musings about it by commenting on some tasty treats!
