The manga persisted for two more years before wrapping up. Interestingly, Studio Bones produced an anime adaption that premiered in 2011 as well, but it only aired its first season. Regardless of its lack of global recognition, it remains highly acclaimed and boasts a loyal following of fans.

Plot of No.6: Reunion

In the year 2013, our tale unfolds in the city of No. 6, a utopian metropolis under tight control. Our protagonist, Shion, a talented youth, assists an injured outlaw named Nezumi on his 12th birthday. This act leads to their exile from the city along with Shion’s mother, forcing them to live in the slums. After four years, as a perplexing illness that targets humans begins to claim lives, Shion is wrongly implicated in these deaths. In an attempt to rescue him, Nezumi reappears, and together they delve into the hidden truths of their city.

The two discover that the city has concealed its past and the lethal bees carrying parasites which cause deadly infections. Yet, while Shion plans to reform city No. 6, he is weighed down by Nezumi’s aim of obliterating it completely. Their voyage eventually brings them face-to-face with the city’s top brass in a climactic showdown.

In the passage of time, exactly two years since our separation from No. 6, I find myself chairing the reconstruction committee. Yet, amidst the rubble, political instability looms, and an enigmatic figure lurks with intentions to disrupt the city’s tranquility. Desperate for assistance, I yearn for Nezumi, believing he may be nearby based on rumors that have reached my ears. As fate brings us back together, we embark on a journey fraught with peril and deception, our common goal being to mend the world that once was ours.
