Mark London’s Underworld universe for Mad Cave Studios has been gradually escalating towards a momentous occasion, and now that significant turning point is here in the shape of Endless Night. London (Battlecats, Hunt.Kill.Repeat) collaborates with artist Tom Derenick (Justice League), colorist Juancho Velez, and letterer Simon Bowland to assemble four of Underworld’s most prominent characters for a tale that will rearrange this evolving world while also establishing foundations for future narratives.
As a movie critic, I’m thrilled to share that “Endless Night #1” is set to debut with not one but two captivating cover options! The first, Cover A, is the brilliant work of Chris Weston (The Filth, Judge Dredd), while Cover B was crafted by Declan Shalvey (Moon Knight, Bog Bodies). For a sneak peek at these stunning covers, feast your eyes on the images below!
In the opening of Endless Night #1, Axel Black, head of the Order of the Nine, dispatches a team to Exit City with the aim of seizing a hazardous artifact. If he succeeds, the consequences could be catastrophic. The story then unfolds as four distinct individuals band together to prevent this disaster. Notably, Velveteen, McCormick & Miller, and Owen Blackwood unite for the first time, offering the world a glimmer of hope in the process.
Mark London commented, “Endless Night marks our first crossover for the Underworld universe – it’s where my childhood dreams have materialized. It brings together the unyielding beat of Revolution 9, the chilling whispers of Hour of the Wolf, and the raw energy of Exit City. These realms, teeming with action, horror, and noir, reflect the core of my creativity and serve as the base for Mad Cave Studios.
In my younger years, these stories ignited my creativity, and today they are a part of my life. Bridging this gap, I sought to delve into the intricate balance between light and darkness, understanding how they impact human existence, as suggested in the synopsis for Endless Night. (London’s statement)
In the story, when tech billionaire Axel Black, who’s both obsessive and part of the secretive Order of Nine, sends his agents to the chaotic city of Exit in pursuit of a perilous mystical item, it falls to an unusual group of allies from diverse criminal realms to prevent a disastrous end: Velveteen, a relentless assassin seeking vengeance; McCormick and Miller, law enforcement officers maintaining order amidst lawlessness; and Owen Blackwood, a dedicated monster hunter sworn to combat evil. However, as the pressure rises and time dwindles, they must work together swiftly to avoid catastrophe.
Pre-orders are now being accepted for the first issue of “Endless Night #1” at your local comic shop and from Mad Cave Studios. The release date is set for June 4th. If you’re interested in exploring more of the Underworld universe, you can find it in other titles such as Mad Cave Studios’ “Revolution 9”, “Hour of the Wolf”, and “Exit City”.
