Unknown 9: Awakening Studio Cancels Next Project, Hit by Lay Offs

Reflector Entertainment, the developer behind the project, has shared that they’ve let go of some team members and have unfortunately had to halt a project underway. This information was posted on LinkedIn by their CEO, Herve Hoerdt, who explained that this move came about because their latest release, Unknown 9: Awakening, did not meet the expected sales targets.

In a post on LinkedIn, the CEO expressed that moving forward with the project was unsustainable for our studio’s future. Unfortunately, this choice may lead to job cuts in the company.

As a devoted fan, I’m sharing some exciting news that might have an impact on our beloved game, “Unknown 9: Awakening.” The studio’s CEO has disclosed that unfortunately, due to the game falling short of the sales targets set by the company, they won’t be proceeding with a sequel. However, Hoerdt emphasized that “Unknown 9: Awakening” boasts a “rich transmedia universe,” but for now, it seems we won’t be venturing further into this captivating world.

According to Hoerdt’s statement, the product launch fell short of the company’s goals despite multiple deadlines being extended and significant resources being allocated (financial and otherwise). Moreover, the results did not warrant any additional investigation or development in this specific area.

As a devoted fan, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the updates from Reflector Entertainment. While there’s no official confirmation about which teams are impacted by the recent layoffs, it’s been hinted that the administrative staff will be affected. Looking forward, the studio seems to be shifting its focus towards single project development, rather than juggling multiple titles at once.
