The first major expansion for “Age of Mythology: Retold,” titled “Immortal Pillars,” now has a confirmed launch date – March 4, 2025. This exciting development is in line with the debut of “Age of Mythology: Retold” on PlayStation 5. This means that PlayStation gamers will be able to engage in mythical battles alongside Xbox and PC users, utilizing divine powers together.
As a researcher delving into this captivating world, I’m excited to share that the upcoming expansion, Immortal Pillars, offers a refreshed take on the Chinese faction. The Major Gods, Fuxi, Nüwa, and Sennong, are now at our command, guiding us as we forge a new empire and prepare for battle.
Accompanying these gods are unique mythical units such as the Qilin, and traditional Chinese soldiers like the renowned Chu Ko Nu crossbowmen. The Minor Gods, Chiyou and Zhurong, broaden the scope of God Powers available to us, allowing us to electrify our troops or set the battlefield ablaze with fire.

The game Immortal Pillars is introducing a brand new nine-part storyline centered around the Chinese faction. This will enable players to learn about the latest units and divine abilities before diving into multiplayer action, providing them with a smooth transition.
The price for Age of Mythology: Retold Immortal Pillars is $20 USD. This title comes bundled with the Premium Edition of the game at no additional expense, along with the upcoming second expansion pack. If you’re playing on either Xbox or PC through Xbox Game Pass, you can opt for the Premium Upgrade to gain access to both expansions as well.
There’s not a lot of information available regarding the upcoming second expansion, but it seems reasonable to presume that it will introduce an entirely novel pantheon to enrich the current collection.
Age of Empires expands with new platforms and factions
Besides the PlayStation 5 version of Age of Mythology, several other Age of Empires games are set to introduce fresh content. Specifically, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is planned for the PlayStation 5, but we don’t have a specific release date beyond the general “Spring” timeframe. This version of the game will launch alongside a new DLC pack as well.
In summary, Age of Empires 4 is set to expand further, as confirmed by the developers at World’s Edge. Earlier, we anticipated a new expansion for this year, but now we have learned that not one, but two DLC packs are planned for the game in 2025. The first of these expansions, titled Knights of the Rose, is slated to release this coming Spring, with more details about it being shared by the Age of Empires teams shortly.
Presently, Age of Mythology: Retold can be found on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC platforms, and it is set to release for PlayStation 5 in March 2025. Similar to other Xbox first-party titles, this game is also accessible through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions.
