Ever since the premiere of Pokemon Horizons , the mobile game version, Pokemon Go , has held several events linking back to the new anime series. With Scarlet & Violet still dominating as the latest main series game, this has led to an increasing number of Gen 9 Pokemon being introduced in the mobile game. Soon, characters from Scarlet & Violet and a new costumed Pokemon will make their appearance in Pokemon Go. However, it seems that Tinkatink, the hammer-wielding character, will only be found within eggs, making it less likely for players to find her on the map.
The event scheduled for April 16th is relatively small compared to typical Pokemon Go events, but it’s a big deal for fans as it coincides with the release of new episodes of Pokemon Horizons. From 10 AM local time on the 16th until April 22nd at 8 PM, Pokemon Go will be hosting a special event called “Pokemon Horizons: The Series Celebration Event.” This event is expected to last approximately one week. During this period, three new creatures, Tinkatink, Tinkatuff, and Tinkaton, will make their debut in Pokemon Go for the first time.
Beyond the fresh evolutionary line introduced in Gen 9, a brand new Pokemon character dressed up as Floragato, complete with Liko’s badge on its hat, is set to make an appearance. During this special occasion, trainers can encounter this charming Pokemon donning a hat, expanding the roster of cute Pokemon adorned in headwear. Although it might not be as iconic as Cowboy Hat Caterpie, this character offers a delightful nod to the anime, making it an ideal match for the Pokemon Horizons event. Furthermore, it can appear in Shiny form and will have its Shininess amplified during the event alongside Shiny Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat.
How to Get Tinkatink in Pokemon Go
Debuting a new Pokemon is always thrilling, but recently, we’ve seen an increase in complex additions compared to typical wild spawns. It seems that from the event description for the Pokemon Horizons: The Series Celebration event, Tinkatink may follow this pattern.
Between April 16th and April 22nd, Tinkatink will emerge from 7-kilometer eggs. So, trainers might want to clear their egg stockpiles before the event starts, allowing them to collect those eggs from fellow trainers during the event period. Fortunately, the distance required for hatching these eggs will be cut in half during the event, meaning you can hike just 3.5 kilometers to hatch a single 7-kilometer egg. After its initial appearance, Tinkatink will be found within 10-kilometer eggs, which can be obtained by spinning PokeStops and Gyms, as well as through Adventure Sync rewards.
The Pokemon Horizons event includes increased appearances of Pokemon from the Paldea region in the wild, but Tinkatink and its evolutions aren’t on that list. This indicates that Tinkatink can only be obtained through eggs hatching, not as a wild catch. However, the new Floragato costume character will appear as a wild encounter, as well as the return of Pikachu wearing Captain Hat.
At the upcoming event, you’ll have a chance to come across Tinkatink through the Paid Timed Research encounters. It’s unclear if it will show up in the free Timed Research, which only mentions “event-themed Pokemon” for its list of encounters. Either way, it seems like catching Tinkatink in the wild won’t be the most efficient way to add this new Pokémon Go debut to your Pokedex. Once you hatch or encounter Tinkatink via Paid Timed Research, it can evolve into Tinkatuff and then Tinkaton using Tinkatink Candy. This evolution process is typical for Pokémon Go with no unusual steps; you’ll need 25 candies for the first evolution and 100 for the final one.
