In the world of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, I can assure you, it’s a different breed of gaming for the brave-hearted like me. The lethal mutants and unpredictable anomalies scattered throughout The Zone are enough to make your skin crawl, but it’s the various factions battling for control that truly test your mettle. Among these groups, there’s no one more chilling than the mad monolithian noosphere shaman, Faust.
After the initial attack on Duga, where Faust employs his illusionary doubles and sets off the massive construction, Skif must withdraw and reorganize before confronting him again, either with the Spark or Ward groups. The decision will influence the beginning of the mission instead of its conclusion, and in both scenarios, it will culminate in a boss fight against Faust. The battle is not as simple as it appears at first glance, and you’ll need to stay alert to your surroundings and aim precisely to overcome him and advance.
Where To Find Faust
The confrontation with Faust transpires on the rooftop of the Duga Command Center. Initially, he’ll show up in the lower areas accompanied by a group of zombies under his command. He’ll employ the disorienting powers of controllers to distort your perception before making an escape. Keep an eye on his movements and stay vigilant for both zombies and Monolithian guards. Gather as much ammunition as you can for your available weapons, as it will be crucial for the impending battle.
Traverse the room carrying your light source and ascend the stairway leading to the rooftop. Navigating there should generally be straightforward, but keep in mind you’ll likely encounter guards throughout your ascent. It’s advisable to stock up on resources from the lower area before proceeding to the rooftop itself.
How To Defeat Faust
The unique aspect of battling Faust becomes evident: you’re actually engaging with mere illusions. Regardless of psi-block or helmet enhancements, this characteristic remains unaffected. Instead, focus on eliminating the lanterns scattered across the rooftop. If necessary, disregard the phantom copies of Faust. Destroying them can offer extra ammo, but it’s usually more costly than beneficial. To truly engage with the real Faust, shooting at the lanterns (a shotgun is advisable) will shatter the illusion and make him materialize for a genuine fight.
In the next stage, a light source or emitting device is attached to Faust’s thigh. Repeated attacks on this gadget will eventually wear it down, making Faust vulnerable. Before engaging him in combat, it’s crucial to disable both the rooftop lights and the leg device first. This is because as long as these devices are intact, Faust can continually restore his health and endure any attack you unleash upon him. Once they’ve been destroyed, a cutscene will play to confirm that the fight has been successfully concluded.
