Beginning next week, a fresh chapter in the world of Pokemon Go is about to unfold with Season 18! Niantic has revealed some exciting details about this new season, which carries the theme Might and Mastery. This theme will introduce more Pokemon that were initially found in Pokemon Sword and Shield, such as Nickit and its evolved form Thievul. But what’s truly captivating is the addition of Kubfu, a new character who can evolve into either one of two forms of Urshifu: Single Strike Style or Rapid Strike Style. The new season commences on March 4th at 10 a.m., local time, and continues until June 3rd.
During the upcoming season’s debut, players will find fresh instances of Special Research tasks waiting for them. Similar to previous seasons, portions of the Special Research will gradually unlock, providing players with chances to gain new rewards and experiences. Notably, this season includes an encounter with Dynamax Kubfu via the Special Research.
Alongside the complimentary Special Research, an optional “A Second Path” ticket will also be up for purchase at $8.00 during the period from March 5th to 10th. This ticket grants players a chance to acquire a second Kubfu that can utilize Dynamax. If purchased and redeemed within this timeframe, there are no constraints on when you can finish it. Additionally, a “Power Up” ticket will be available in the Shop, offering perks such as an extra Candy XL for completing Raids and Max Battles. The cost of this ticket hasn’t been disclosed yet.
With regards to Max Battles, they’ll continue to play a significant role within the upcoming ‘Might and Mastery’ season of Pokemon Go. The trio of legendary Pokemon from Pokemon Gold and Silver, namely Raikou, Entei, and Suicune, will make their first appearance in Dynamax form. The three legendaries will show up at various times, so players should stay alert for them throughout the season. Moreover, apart from these 3 Dynamax Pokemon, there’ll be more Gigantamax Pokemon on display as well. Niantic has confirmed Gigantamax Machamp, and hinted that additional ones will be unveiled throughout the season.
Starting from March 5th, the Shiny variant of Charcadet will make its debut in Pokemon Go. Players can discover Charcadet by hatching 10 km Eggs or through Research Breakthrough encounters. The Shiny versions of Charcadet, Ceruledge, and Armarouge have similar appearances to their regular counterparts, but they exhibit some unique differences. For instance, the eyes of Shiny Charcadet are blue flames instead of the typical orange and red. This flame-like color persists in Shiny Armarouge, while Shiny Ceruledge has red eyes instead of the usual light purple.
Back in early March, Niantic unveiled a comprehensive schedule for Community Days and other events coming up during their event series called Might and Mastery (it didn’t have a name before). If you’re interested, you can find the complete list here. The first Community Day event is swiftly approaching on my calendar, happening on March 8th this Saturday! This event will shine a light on the Fire-type Pokemon Fuecoco, marking it as the second Paldean starter to have its own Community Day in 2025. That means we’ll probably see Quaxly make an appearance later this year too!
