Based on several recent rumors, it’s now officially available that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has been launched for the PS5, after its formal unveiling.
Although it carries the label ‘Remastered’, this re-release seems to veer more towards being a remake rather than just an enhancement. Constructed using Unreal Engine 5, it represents a comprehensive visual transformation, accompanied by various adjustments to the gameplay throughout the entire journey.
The animations for both combat sequences and regular movements have been enhanced, and they’ve given the entire game a fresh look with an overhaul of the user interface and menu systems, taking the original game design as their starting point.
In other words, since it’s built on the foundation of the original Oblivion game, you should anticipate similar in-game mechanics and overall framework.
Indeed, the expansions “The Shivering Isles” and “Knights of the Nine,” which were originally part of Oblivion, are also encompassed within the remastered version.
In the development of Oblivion Remastered, a French-based third-party company called Virtuos has been entrusted to handle the task. Meanwhile, Bethesda, the original developer, is keeping a watchful eye on the project’s progress.
