In the closing stages of the primary mission during the Dark Ages in Stalker 2, Skif encounters an injured Strider at the Doctor’s doorstep. Following a lengthy chat about Strelok, the Doctor requests Skif to procure a Monolithian gadget with the potential to heal Strider. This triggers the commencement of The Act of Mercy side quest. While this mission is generally straightforward, there exists a unique objective that could significantly complicate matters for players.
Finding the Monolithian Device in the Cable Tunnel
After wrapping up your discussion with the Doctor, make your way to the Cable Tunnels site to pick up the Monolithian device. Upon arrival at the building, venture inside and begin navigating down the illuminated stairs until you reach the lowest floor. There will be adversaries ahead, but it’s essential that you refrain from causing harm to them in order to adhere to the Doctor’s optional suggestion of handling them without resorting to lethal force.
Even though hitting enemies in their legs instead of killing them might seem like a good strategy for the Doctor’s optional goal, it will still be counted as a kill, causing the objective to fail. Consequently, it’s crucial to have plenty of medkits handy to continually restore your health while navigating through the gunfire.
Here’s how to find the Monolithian Device known as the Regenerator in An Act of Mercy quest.
- Run past the first soldier and enter the tunnels at the back of the room.
- Go left from the corridor and enter the vents at the end to enter the next section of the tunnel.
- As soon as you exit the first vent, turn right and enter another vent that’s leading upwards.
- Jump down from the vent’s opening to enter a hospital-like room. Be vary of several Monolithian soldiers patrolling this area.
- Quickly exit the room, run into the corridor, then keep following the hallways until you arrive in an open area with two open doors.
- Enter the door to the right to reach the room with the Regenerator.
- Quickly take the Regenerator, make your way back to the upper sections, and out of the Cable Tunnel building.
Once you have the Regenerator, you’ll need to make your way back to the Doctor’s house.
Taking the Device back to the Doctor
Upon reaching the Doctor’s home within the peculiar field this time, you’ll find the front door already unlocked. Venture inside the house and make your way to the living room where you’ll discover a distinctive rifle known as ‘The Whip’ on a table. Once you’ve picked up the rifle, continue deeper into the house until you come across a basement with an open doorway at the rear of a room.
Go downstairs and open the door which will initiate an extended sequence depicting Strider regaining consciousness and assaulting the doctor due to the influence of the Monolith. This thrilling scene is a key part of the game, leading players to embark on their next major mission, “Legends of the Zone”, in Stalker 2.
Leaving the doctor’s house, you’ll receive a substantial number of Coupons as a prize if you can complete the An Act of Mercy quest without causing harm to any enemy, instead choosing mercy over violence.
