Can you change character appearance in Avowed?
Absolutely, however, there are limitations. While you can modify the appearances of Armor and Clothing items using a feature called transmogrify in Avowed, it’s important to note that you cannot alter the face or body structure of your custom character. On the bright side, you can adjust the outfits of your companions too!
How to change appearance in Avowed
In role-playing games (RPGs), having the ability to modify your playable character’s appearance is a highly appreciated feature, as it significantly contributes to the sense of being a cool hero, which is a common element in the fantasy often linked with this genre. Consequently, it’s no wonder that numerous players of Obsidian Entertainment’s latest fantasy RPG, Avowed, are eagerly experimenting with how extensively they can customize their characters beyond the initial character creation phase at the beginning of the game.
In the course of my Living Lands adventure, I discovered that modifying the facial features of my envoy during gameplay isn’t an option – a heads-up I got from the character creator before embarking on this journey. However, there’s a cool feature called transmogrify that lets me customize the look of my armor and clothing! To use it, simply choose the Armor or Clothing items you prefer, then hit the Transmog button located at the bottom right corner of the screen. This magic trick will apply the appearance of your chosen items onto your currently equipped gear, so I can rock whatever outfit I fancy without compromising on stats.
Remember that when you discard or replace items like Armor or Clothing that you currently have equipped and have been altered by Transmogrification (Transmog), they will revert back to their original look. So, if you own any Transmog gear, make sure it stays in your inventory. Additionally, please note that Transmog doesn’t work for weapons, which can be a bit disappointing.
How to change companion appearance in Avowed

It seems your party members in Avowed, just like you, have wardrobe changes. Notably, Obsidian’s single player RPG allows you to customize your companions’ attire as well, and the procedure is quite straightforward. To start this process, first navigate to one of the Adra Waystones dotted across the map and establish a Party Camp at it. Once that’s set up, visit the Main Camp Tent, where you’ll find an option to alter your companions’ outfits.
In the event that you purchase the Premium Edition of Avowed, you’ll immediately have several alternative Companion Outfits at your disposal for each of your party members right from the start. Conversely, if you don’t get the Premium Edition, you’ll only be able to obtain these outfits as you progress through your adventure in the Living Lands.
