Artificial General Intelligence, or AGI, is a type of artificial intelligence that exceeds human intelligence in multiple areas of task performance. Yet, there appears to be some confusion among AI industry leaders about what exactly constitutes AGI, as they sometimes use the term to describe different concepts.
For example, Microsoft’s significant collaboration with OpenAI symbolically assigns a large-scale AI-driven system the ability to potentially generate profits up to $100 billion, at least in theory.
As a research analyst, I find myself consistently astounded by the remarkable progress being made by companies like Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in the AI domain. However, it’s essential to acknowledge that the race’s conclusion is still uncertain. The technology continues to ascend new peaks, becoming increasingly complex and resource-intensive, raising questions about who will ultimately cross the finish line.
