Until Dawn Remaster Features Ray Tracing, New Cinematography, and Updated Character Deaths

As a seasoned gamer with years of horror gaming under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the remastered version of Until Dawn! Being a fan of the original, I remember the nail-biting suspense and heart-pounding moments that kept me on the edge of my seat.

At last, the reimagined version of “Until Dawn” by Ballistic Moon is set for launch, making its way onto PS5 and PC in October. A fresh comparison trailer showcases numerous graphical upgrades, yet there are additional exciting aspects to anticipate, as revealed by creative director Neil McEwan on the PlayStation Blog.

As an eager fan, I’m thrilled about the upcoming project being developed on Unreal Engine 5. What excites me most is that it promises ray tracing and advanced materials, aiming for a chilling, atmospheric, and modern horror experience. The character models will boast higher fidelity with improved materials, rendering, and animations. Moreover, real-time fluids, such as blood, are said to be more realistic due to modern pre-rendering simulation techniques.

The preview showcases modifications to the types of injuries characters might endure, including not just bruises and scrapes but also snow, rain, and tear marks on their bodies. What’s intriguing is that Ballistic Moon has revamped the death scenes for characters, which promises an engaging viewing experience.

Beyond these enhancements, the cinematography underwent a transformation, featuring a brand-new third-person perspective that provides novel vantage points. The creator explains this change as providing “heightened focus on crucial instances” and enabling the narrative to be presented “from a viewpoint more akin to the characters.”

Until Dawn launches on October 8th. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
